I wish I were a Bird

I wish I were a Bird

I wish I was born a beautiful Bird,
Each morning I’d sing thanks to the Golden Sun,Ā
I’d thank it for the chance to rise when the day has begun.

I’d build my nest on the strongest tree,Ā
Nestled deep behind thick branches,Ā
Safe from any eye to see.

My wings would be strong and carry me far,
I’d see valleys, mountains, and riversĀ
No hunger to fear, no battles to spar.
I’d hunt the worm that feeds on my Earthly dream,Ā
I’d bathe in clear waters to keep myself clean.

When storms and winds roar through the sky and plain
I’d fly high into a cave in the mountains embrace.
I’d be safe and free from all dangerĀ
Finally a refuge
Finally a safe space.

And there I would raise my little small birds
A family to share what my labor has earned
Together we would sing with unbroken words
In a life finally safe
A life I’ve always yearned

Your words mean more to me than I can explain at this time.
I don’t believe I will ever find my wingsĀ
I try to keep hope that one day I willĀ
thank you kindly for your words
