Eyes

Life is not about
Putting on a smile,

Not about making nice.

Girl who pretends soldier's

Got something to pay

The price.

Light was about parks,

Swings and slides.

Dark brings vulnerability

Of being alive.

Car in the drive

Backs out looking for

Nice girl whose survived,

Girl who use to have

The too-kind eyes.

Sounds to me that there is a huge amount of compassion from a soldier, I see a young girl under rubble, and a Soldier desperate to save her. 🌹

Like the way second verse bleeds into the third and altogether this is lovely R... kind of a haunting quality x

Yea...like that too..liked it all R... like the way you put words together to create an atmosphere and feeling rather than an easy to follow story. Have always admired that quality in your work ...oh...and don't shout at me for praising your work 😆

I'm so glad you would never say 'koy', rather, subtlety is my aim. And I'll thank you, amongst the others, who should rightfully know who they are, that have noticed. I gamble on the chance it might be so overhead but like to think it worth it.

Being Me

My first thoughts on reading this were, "Oh, I hope the car didn't hit the girl!" but on reading again it seems much more of a metaphorical write, more about how life chews us up and spits us back out. I enjoyed reading x
