Poem -

A Clumsy Curtsy

Love's Innocent Encounter...

A Clumsy Curtsy

Oh Lord, have mercy! I have forgotten how to curtsy
And the finest gentleman has just asked me to dance
Shall I bat my eyes and act surprised at his sudden advance?

He does not seem to mind that I am clumsily inclined
Though his bow is perfect in execution and control
While I feign that I am a graceful dame entranced in his hold

Around in his twirl, I am simply a girl, surrendered
Trying to remember clever dance steps to impose
As he laughs and dips me back for occasion to be close

I cannot resist his swift invitation for a kiss
While the room stands still, frozen in time's pleasantry
And his pressed lips present a moment meant to be

Somewhere during fate's embrace, love's flush fills my face
Then, he looks at me, devotedly, as his future wife to be
And to think, it all started innocently, with a clumsy curtsy

Lol....Hi Greg...Why,  yes you may!  :)  I used to love to dance, but I admit that I am a bit clumsy now because of my peripheral neuropathy in my feet. I love to imagine the Victorian days, when  a gentleman would ask a lady to dance and he would bow and she would curtsy to start the pairing. It seems so romantic to me. I was must born in the wrong era...lol  Thank you for your continued support. Love n Hugs, xo ;)

It’s been along time since I’ve danced i used to go downtown at night here in the villages and they would have music and sometimes I would get up and dance not very good but I also like the Victorian age I think they were a gentleman and those days were a gentleman  so many today I always love the old fashion Ways The The courtship Sitting in the parlor chaperones the manners of the day I’m an old fashion guy you know
Love and hugs xxoo But I have been downtown in a long time at night are used to go down from 5 to 6  4 nights a week but then I stopped and stayed home

Hello Greg. I can see you being very much an old fashioned gentleman. I use to go dancing all the time but then realized that I was beginning to be the oldest woman out there after years....lol.  I need to find a place that is for Middle Ages and up people to dance. I think I would have LOVED livIng in the Victorian age with the dress of the day and the ball dances and the way there was such manners and etiquette about things that seemed so romantic in nature.  Men actually courted women and asked their father permission to marry them. They wore gloves, and kissed the hand of the woman they were courting to show respect. It was a time of grand gestures in subtly of an age of romance and appreciation of the opposite sex for companionship. Sigh...I can dream..lol xo ;)

Hi Jill. Thank you for the PIN! I was born out of time and I love to think about the beautiful mannerisms and etiquette of the Victorian age. Love seemed so simple and elegant. Romance was portrayed so exquisitely. I just wanted to create a very special moment in time. Thank you for such awesome support! I hope to get on Cosmo later and catch up with my reading. I have been painting today and been busy. But I am thrilled to see you on my page. Thank you. Love and hugs

Lol.. well I dabble in a little bit of everything and anything that is creative. My children like to paint rocks with me and we do nature scenes on them. But I was actually painting walls today LOL I have been working little by little on my house that I bought over a year ago and I'm still fixing it up. It gives me something to feel like I am making it my own. This is the first time I've bought my own house. It's been a lot of work. I feel scattered every day between trying to write poetry and working on my next book and chores around the house etcetera. But I love to come on here and read and be inspired. Thank you for all your kind support.😘💞

Being Me

This reminds me of a scene from a Disney classic that has not yet been written. I can see the clumsy princess so clearly. You made me smile with this one, Cherie 🙂 x

Lol...ah ha ha ha! I could so see that too. I could see me as the inspiration behind the character LOL. Not all of us can be graceful. :-) ThabksTina. I wish love could be so easy as to have a dance and everything just fall into place for a happily ever after. Be looking for the new Disney movie out this fall LOL
