Behind the Mask I Grieve

Behind the mask is a man, a creature of deception, misunderstanding of his belief
A curse of evil has scarred his face, once a handsome prince now suffers in grief
Grief of the princess who took her life in a desperate moment of fear that her prince would never be freed
Free from the witch who took away his flesh, so he wears a mask and haunts the past
Haunting every tree, the weeping willow trail through the valley unto the castle peaks
Sobbing, yet hoping there might be a chance that his beloved bride will return to him one day
The curse will only be broken if a kiss is placed on her hand, then his flesh will reappear
As he waits, his trembling hands, shaking, he remembers the fragrance of her hair, as he calls her name, sweet Abigail
For when she sees his eyes of blue, so true, though deep behind the mask, she will rise again
A love so fair, none compare, so sad the two must have suffered, only the witch can bring them back
Oh my sweet Abigail, please come back to me, for I am still alive awaiting your kiss
Witch, come forth, I beg, and take away this curse and the mask in which I grieve
The saddest part is she took her life for me, I will kneel down at her feet and then sweetly kiss her hand
This is not just a fairy tale, but real love you see, and I will not stop the haunting hunt, for behind the mask I grieve
