Poem -

Chippie The Parakeet

Chippie The Parakeet

I have a bouncy baby pet, his name is chippie,
He is a beautiful and well adoring parakeet.

One day I was cleaning his cage with a rag,
I was almost finished when the phone rang.

So I turned around to the table to answer it,
And chippie was gone before I knew it.

In a panic, I looked around the cage with eyes blear,
And there was Chippie, covered in dirt and gasping for air.

I carried him to the bathroom and rinse him under the faucet,
Then I reached for the air dryer because he was wet.

Chippie never knew what blew and turned to hit him,
He was so lucky that Isaac Pulpit was there to redeem.

But I realized later that Chippie don’t sing anymore,
Every morning when I’m cleaning, he only sit and stare.

But at first he was a very good bird with a nice voice,
Even Mama said I should sell him, cause’ he makes noise.

Now he don’t play with me, just remain in his cage,
Whiles I sit to write and read, turning the page.

Have you ever in your entire life felt like that?
It can be that your hat will be bitten by a rat.

One minute you’re whistling through life with bless,
And the next you are caught in a whirlwind of stress.

You are running frantically through the airport,
And arrive in the gate just to see your plane take off.

The table is set when we see smoke coming from the kitchen,
It could even be that that’s where you keep the kittens.

These annoyances of life strikes when they’re least expected,
And they always leave us hated, dazed and oriented.

What I have to say is, life daily comes with pain and stress,
But never let shipwrecks and pains take off your happiness.

And thus, the next time the wind of life rise and blow,
Try to keep your song, and never bring your voice low.
