Dead Harvest

Years ago I wrote you letters on a pageÂ
Each line a quiet offering of my loveÂ
It was the planting of a seedÂ
I prayed would root and riseÂ
The soil was hardÂ
And the land was deadÂ
Still I poured myself into itÂ
Blaming my own heart insteadÂ
Time passed on and nothing bloomedÂ
I thought my tears would be enough to water the gardenÂ
But too many fell and flooded the landÂ
The letters on our love story dissolved and ran awayÂ
As though they were too ashamed to stay
Now the garden lies empty againÂ
It’s returned to the barren desertÂ
With Grace I acceptÂ
Gods promiseÂ
Was one I was never meant to Harvest.Â
