Poem -

Dead Harvest

Years ago I wrote you letters on a page
Each line a quiet offering of my love
It was the planting of a seed
I prayed would root and rise

The soil was hard
And the land was dead
Still I poured myself into it
Blaming my own heart instead

Time passed on and nothing bloomed
I thought my tears would be enough to water the garden
But too many fell and flooded the land
The letters on our love story dissolved and ran away
As though they were too ashamed to stay

Now the garden lies empty again
It’s returned to the barren desert
With Grace I accept
Gods promise
Was one I was never meant to Harvest.
