Poem -

Discover My Voice

Discover My Voice

Memories pass by me upon a summer breeze
An incumbent crutch of love's stubborn disbelief
Contrarious decisions may come back to bite
But somewhere in my heart, I hold onto the fight

Forgive me when I linger in the past too long
The future seems uncertain, the present's too pronged
The way I view the world stays fantastically skewed
Only God's safe spirit supersedes with faithful mood

Once upon a time, my youth flexed its muscles, proud
Time's manipulation, shuffled struggles in the crowd
When I feel faint of heart, wishing mistakes away
I pray redemptive grace shares powerful persuade

For, who am I amidst many mid-summer's dreams?
To catch a stray star, one must go to great extremes
And I am shy, introverted, afraid to take a chance
Glancing back to safer steps in predictable dance

Yet, there burns a brighter light, behind my scared eyes
My heart is full of love, disrobing its disguise
Where my life was once scripted, waiting on my choice
I take deep breaths. fling regrets, discover my voice

Fantastic writing, my friend.
Life is so odd, isn't it? And love, such a beautiful thing, but so unattainable in the visions we see it as in our minds, and so elusive.
Gorgeous writing, as usual. I love the way you make me think, and the way you think.

Loved it.

Matthew.

Thank you, Matthew.  Life can be confusing and elusive for sure... with so many changes and decisions that alter the course of one's life and how they view their future.  I think if we try to focus on love and its influence, life can be easier to digest... lol  What a touching compliment... I am glad I make you think and you like the way I think... You have been an awesome supporter of my work. Bless you. xo ;)

You're so welcome, Cheerie. You deserve the support.
Life is a learning experience, and interesting, intelligent people like yourself, add to that, and your being so kind and nice, makes it even better. Keep writing! Please.

I will write when I can.  It is because of kind support that I enjoy sharing my poetry.  The world needs more nice people like you, Matthew.  It took me a long time to be comfortable enough to even share my work....Glad I did now.. lol  xo ;)

Thanks Cheerie,
I'm the same way. I probably would have left here if it wasn't for peepholes...I mean people, like you, and Silent Screamer, and PoetofDarkness, and a few other kind people who give such encouragement. And thank you for the nice words.
You're brilliant, young lady! And so nice.

Thanks,

Matthew.

Hi Greg.  Thank you.  I think it takes years of living and experience to become comfortable knowing who we are and having a voice.

I will certainly read your poem.  Lol...I can tell I will like it, and Tony will too.

Hi Cherie, that was an amazing poem, everything time I'm feeling low I like to read your beautiful words, they are worthy of so much and carry such dept that it's like love itself wrote them.

Hey C!!......gorgeous, romantic, flowing phrasing that takes the reader right into flow of the authors intent here...... you are such a master of this type of write I am at a loss in new found wisdom (smiles)..... But I will say that I absolutely LOVE the final line ~

~ "I take deep breaths, fling regrets, discover my voice "

It's like one, long, exhale........ Great closing line C!!.......and of course, any great poem needs both excellent opening and closing lines....... Keep up your continuing drive for perfection........ALL STARS!!...... proud of you sweetheart!!........ Hugs n Kisses!!.........T xo 🐧✴❤❤❤❤❤✴🐧

Thank you, Tony... I like this poem for what it represents to me... finally finding courage and strength to pursue dreams and be who I want to be.  There is so much that can keep us held back in life....like if we cling to mistakes we've made or regrets and guilt... I am so glad you liked the last line, because it sums up my whole poem's theme, I think.  I smile when you say you are proud of me.  Thank you!  ;)  Kisses xoxx
