Poem -

Grace's Witticism

Grace's Witticism

With the subtlety of a raging waterfall
Her driven tears flow in repenting altar call
If they could scream it would mean her pain found release
But in this dark performance, silence rescinds peace

Maybe it was the shadows of broken dream’s past
A harassing memory where fools played the cast
And her heart starred in the leading role up on stage
Trapped to be tortured, like a wild cat in a cage

She defies the delusion that she can’t get out
As she twirls around searching for life’s reroute
Seeking to hold the hand of one man who understands
How to be her safe place when the world makes demands

Is he coming to save her with love’s secret key?
She forces back refracted tears, determinedly
And stands in the spotlight of a crowd’s criticism
Last song and dance saved with grace’s witticism

My Dear Cherie,

On the stage, she is an actress, with talents from above
But in life, she is very lonely, questing for true love
The audience applauds her, she hides her inner tears
Never to find her Soulmate, is her sad hearts greatest fear

All my love,
Larry xxx

Hey dear Larry....Perfect summation in verse of my poem...Sometimes people present what the world wants to see to make everyone happy, but they can be very lonely inside...seeking to be understood and loved for who they are.  There are a lot of entertainers that do this and have the adoring fans or audience believe they are idealistic in presentation, but in private have very painful lives,  You are so perceptive.  xo  Love n Hugs

My Dear Cherie,

You know my Mother was in show business, and I have never forgotten the story she told me one day about Red Skelton.  She said that even though his son had died a few days before, he somehow found the strength to fulfill his weekly obligation on TV.  I guess this was the epitome of "the show must go on".

Love,

That is a perfect example of how entertainers put on a show despite their personal circumstances....I don't know how Red Skelton did that.  It has never been easy for me to hide my emotions when I am sad, but as a mother, I have many times put on a brave front for my kids to feel secure.  Thanks Larry. xo ;)

I hope your children realize that they were blessed with as great a mother that one could ask for.

That is so sweet Larry.  I missed this comment.  I feel very blessed to have my four children and I hope they know how much I love them and sacrifice a lot in private they do not know to be sure they are feeling secure.  xo Love n Hugs

Hey  T..."Inner turmoil" is the perfect word for this write.  I am glad you say it was powerfully delivered.  I think about all the famous entertainers and how they can move the world, but inside a lot of them are very lonely and lost....needing to be accepted for who they are, not an image.  Your comments are very honest and humbling...I am sorry though that you feel that way.  Both of our lives have changed so much since 2014.  Thank you for telling me that you are proud of me.  I think I really needed to hear that.  Love n Hugs, C xo

Hey my soul sister!  Thank you!  I am so happy you liked this one well enough to pin it...Yay!  I am honored.  I start to think that readers may believe all I write is mushy love poems or passionate writes...lol... I am glad you liked the image too....It is how I see this woman in my mind on stage in the spotlight...but feeling alone.  Love n Hugs, sis Cherie

A Lonely Journey

Hi Cheerie,
Wow, what a gorgeous, powerful piece of literature!
You are fantastic! And you keep getting better. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier(I haven't been on much in the last few days), because that's just a brilliant write. It's so deep, and painful, yet still holds a semblance of hope. I was going to say I loved that first stanza, but then I realized they are all fantastic, and it's too hard to choose any particular part of it, as the whole thing is a masterpiece. Brilliant, young lady!!

Love,

Matthew.

Hello Matthew....Thank you!  No need to apologize...I am just happy to see your comments any time.  I am flattered you say this is a brilliant write.  I had this image of a woman on stage with a bright light focused on her...as if she is being analyzed and judged, and seeking a way out of a life of pain...but putting on a performance of what other people need to see from her.  I appreciate how encouraging you are with my work.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

Brilliant, young lady!!
You're so welcome, and you're so good!
You are the Julia Childs of poetry, your writing is delicious, and filling, and rich, and has all the ingredients, and sweetness of a classic dessert. lol.
You are a wonderful writer, and person, and it's a wicked honor to know you.
Thanks,
Matthew.

Lol...I have to honestly say that I have NEVER been compared to Julia Childs.  Good thing this is a poetry site and not a cooking site, or I would be doomed...lol  I get the metaphor though and thank you!  I am proud to have you as my friend and poetry peer....You are awesome...Thank you, Matthew.  xo ;)
