Poem -

Growing up.

Growing up.

Long knotty hair,
Track pants and cow girl boots.
Old skipping rope,
Climbing trees and graized knees.
Holden red shirt,
Unmatching socks and playing in the dirt.
Sweet blue eyes,
Mischief smile and home made water slide.
Changing gears,
Wide open roads and paddocks full of wonder.
Fairy tale cubby’s,
Giant monsters and playing with my brothers.
Skate boarding,
Rugby league, Doing tricks on my bicycle.
Stained shirts,
No skirts, half dressed child.
Bright skin,
Blonde hair, never afraid of heights.
Contagious giggles,
Cupcakes, scones and obsessed with wiggles.
Adventurous with many questions
Yet I pretended to know the answers.
Rolling down grass hills,
Green stained trousers.
Play dates with friends,
Sleep overs & discos.
School was fun, many people to meet.
Class with my favourite teacher.
Creative writing,
Making up my own games,
Sports carnivals and church group on sundays.
McDonald’s was a treat,
Christmas holidays in December,
The best days of growing up
Will always be ones to remember.
