Poem -

He Completes Me

He Completes Me

Something in the air tonight makes me cry
I release reasons why to deny it
Truth’s purity pierces my soul alone
With its own convincing motivations
Tantalizing tones come from one who knows…

He completes me

Don’t ask me how I know or even why
My tears are testimony of the proof
In my sad pursuit to simply exist
He could not resist to enlist his hand
To offer that sensitive wind of change

It was in his deep eyes I found respite
A beckoning light of understanding
Without demanding of me anything
He just hovers close, like protective ghost
And I adore that the most, I believe

He completes me

As a secret, solemn promise of love
He covers me like a warm comforter
As the most unselfish savior I have known
I am never alone to fend again
For he’s my friend upon whom I depend

And perhaps I help him heal a bit too
Like a bonding glue that sets and seals
So he feels one with me through desire’s pleas
That are felt through my spontaneous laughs
Yet, he never asks of me more than that

He knows
What I know
Simply and sweetly-
That he completes me

Hello T! Yay!  You really liked this one!  I do think I am very classic romantic at heart and born out of time in this day and age.  But, I will always value the beautiful gift of what a devoted, loving, bond between a couple can be....Marriage is such a gift when two people truly understand the heart of another and accept each other for who they are.  I am thrilled you love it, because it represents my ideal love....friendship, desire, respect, understanding, protectiveness, and pure affection.  I love you too.  Hugs n Kisses,  C ;)

A Lonely Journey

Hi Cheerie,
Amazing. Unfortunately, this silly rating system only goes to 5 stars(but, to it's defense, there aren't even enough stars in the night sky to cover that beautiful painting of love).
I'm not sure if it's just me, but when I read that, I was lost a serene, slow, warm, flowing dream, like drifting down a beautiful stream of love. It's just so warm, and inviting, and sweet.
I love the way your heart thinks('Something in the air tonight makes me cry'), it's so loving, and hopeful. And these lines:

'In my sad pursuit to simply exist
He could not resist to enlist his hand
To offer that sensitive wind of change'

Oh my gosh, how heartbreakingly beautiful. I can understand them so clearly. Fantastic. And this:

'As a secret, solemn promise of love
He covers me like a warm comforter
As the most unselfish savior I have known
I am never alone to fend again
For he’s my friend upon whom I depend'

I think is my favorite(although the next stanza is close). But this just shows what a kind, warm heart you have, and how it sees love so beautifully.

And the ending just gorgeously puts a beautiful bow on this precious gift you've endowed us with.

I loved that. New favorite. One of the best poems I've ever read.

Great writer, young lady!

Love and hugs,

Matthew.

Oh wow!  Thank you, Matthew!  Another new favorite?  Lol.  I wanted to do a poem that was formatted differently to give myself a little bit of freedom in what I write without focusing so much on a perfect lay out.  I am so sentimental over love, and I believe it needs expression and trust to be at a level of completeness.  I love God's description of Love in 1st Corinthians chapter 13 that says:

" Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

God's guidelines for love are beautiful, and if He says this is what He desires of us to experience, then I know it is in my heart to desire that too.  A committed relationship is so hard, but so rewarding too....when two people love each other and want to make it all it can be to glorify God.

Thank you for understanding my heart, and giving such thought and feedback into what you convey in your comments. That means so much.  Thank you for appreciating my poetry.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

very lovely work per usual cherie.
it has the romantic air of one soulmate
expressing her interconnectedness
with the soul who completes her.

Hey J.  Thank you.  I think to have such a beautiful connection with someone that you feel comfortable with is awesome and rare....It is the ultimate goal in love I think.  Most of my life I have felt disconnected...and I guess I like the idea of another person who completes another...not that one person is not okay on their own..but to have someone really see you and understand who you are with complete unconditional love is idealistic.  I just write what inspires me about love...and this is one perspective I really admire.  Thanks J.  xo ;)

Ahhhh....a weary traveller who has found home, at long last and can lay down their head in relief knowing they are at last protected by the arms of love. Simply stunning 💕

Hi Marion.  Thank you.  ;) You summed up my poem's theme perfectly.  Life can have such an unpredictability to it...and to find another soul who understands and is a comfort is a beautiful concept to me.  I am so happy you liked it...This kind of love is admirable to me..  xo Love n Hugs ;)

My Dear Cherie,

As I just wrote to you, in answer to your comment on "Just One Look", your beautiful love poems touch all our hearts and Souls.  It reminded me of three lines that I wrote for Linda, several years ago.

Having you is having love
Having love is having life
My life and you are one

All my love,
Larry xxx

HI dear Larry....That is beautiful!  I love what you wrote for Linda...and it is so true.  Love is everything!  I am so inspired when I read of other's love and to embrace it myself and understand how sacred it is.  Thank you for always making me feel supported and appreciated, Larry.  I wish you and Linda the best, always on your journey in life and love together. xo ;)
