Poem -

His Distance

His Distance

He had a look of far away before he ever left
As if the desert would end its drought
And bring his ship upon oasis cleft
Distance dangled in his dark eyes
Temptations riled his restless soul
How could I ever keep him close
When the world was his, waiting to unfold

A sojourner's spirit kept him at bay
So impossible to draw him near
When wanderlust forbid him to stay
At best, I was a mere distraction
A passing fancy of romping romance

One day, he may affectionately recall
The sensual blush upon my cheeks
My flushing, baited red, only by him
And though he returned a guise of affection
It must have all been on a whim
For he always eventually turned away
From any lingering emotional embrace
I could find no solid promise or vow
To reciprocate its grace upon his face

Goodbye to dreams of love's grandeur
Where its wonder would wrap in wedding lace
I clutched a heart torn asunder
Feeling his destined imminent distance
Before he even physically departed
He left me in this forlorn, humiliating place

Hi "Your Joe"....You are so right....Distance can NEVER bring two together if one is unwilling to surrender and appreciate love's affections....I wanted to create something different today in narrative form...I am so glad you liked it...Thank you for taking time to read and comment.  xo ;)

Hi Sweet T....Thank you!  Distance is never a good thing....It does open the door to misunderstanding and conflicts...and leaves no room for intimacy and connection.  I wanted to write a narrative that in my mind is set in the 18th century as a woman realizes she has lost her lover once and for all after sensing all along that he was never hers to have and hold...only a part of his journey to pass through her life...I am glad you liked it...Love, Hugs, n Kisses xoxxx Your C

My Dear Cherie,

He tried to drop his anchor
One place-one heart-one love
But his mind was always restless
This traveler, sought off to shove

.
Each month his itch persisted
No kiss could cure his whim
She knew that he would leave her
The outcome looking dim

.
Then one day he sailed
As she watched him fade away
His distance growing farther
On each heartbreaking day

All my love,
Larry xxx

Our Dear Cherie,

First and foremost, will we be able to pull up the podcast anywhere on line?  We are so excited for him, and can't wait to watch him "wow" the crowd.  Where is he performing at?  Give him our love, and tell him we said "break a leg".

Now to the poetry.  As you know, every time I read one of yours, it goes straight to my heart and Soul, which is where I know it has originated from you.  It is so easy to ingest it's beauty, and pen a similar version.  As I have often said, your words are the craft that guides my pen.

All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx

Hi Linda and Larry...In three hours we will be going to the Spectrum Center in Herndon (not sure how the town is spelled) where he will do the interview and play some of his song.  Though the podcast is recorded live, I believe it will not be online until a month....It will be edited and then put out on Dan Lamaestra's website.  (He is a professional jazz musician for the White House Navy Jazz Ensemble Band.) Tony will probably post it too.  I am sure Tony will have all the information and can give it to you when it is available...I will tell him you send well wishes for his performance...Very kind of you...I am excited to be there and I know he is ready....He had a great practice yesterday.  Love n Hugs to you both.  ;) xo

Our Dear Cherie,

Sounds like Tony is off and running.  So very exciting.  We'll bet, that in a year or so, we will be saying "we knew him when".
Have a great rest of your trip.

All our love,
