Poem -

I Met a Girl With Raven Eyes

I Met a Girl With Raven Eyes

I met a girl with raven eyes
(A life of pain, a life of lies)
She stole my heart away from me
(A band of gold placed from one knee)
Her beauty’s not like the one’s before
(She stabs at me her silent score)
Oh, will you ever be my one?
(Will this nightmare come undone?)
I long to see you in the night
(And break this sacrificial rite)
The aching urge to steal a kiss
(The long, cold nights of wedded bliss)

I came upon a majestic sunset
I stood in awe under star-lit skies
(I begged the world to give me reason
I grieve the beauty as it dies…)

I met a girl with raven eyes.

Jillian,
Thank you so much. It's fantastic to garner praise from the Lightening Poet Tait! I don't know how you do it, I got 2 out in a couple of days and I'm in the hospital on oxygen! LOL.
I really appreciate it, my friend. You're great.
Matthew.

Hello Matthew....Whew!  You really know how to write the romance genre...I better just quit now on Cosmo because you can fill the spot for passionate love poems in my place and much better!  This is beautiful, and a bit sad in tone too....but reads like those old classic love poems that left elusive imagery but enough that stirs the mind with filling in the blanks with passionate delight.  I love the romanticism you carry about the sacredness of marital bliss and blessing...It makes this raven eyed woman seem very special, indeed to him.  It makes me root for him to achieve his love...Great love poem, Matthew.  You are an amazing writer.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;) xo

Oh, thank you so much, Cheerie!!
The raven eyed girl is Heaven, and some day, I hope I get there.
You are the master of love, so don't you dare quit! lol. I'm just learning from you. Thank you again, it means a lot to me that you always like my poetry.
You're the greatest.
Love,
Matthew.

Romance isn’t just using sugared words it’s infusing them with the ecstasy and despair that love can often bring without making it a dark melodrama but rather an experience most of us have lived through ...but few want to remember. You have dont this beautifully Matthew, and it was a heartbreaking joy to read ..you clever boy! One very proud Grammy.

Loki, my beautiful friend, thank you so much.
It always means a lot to me when I get positive feedback from intelligent, caring, wonderful people like yourself, so I so appreciate it. Life is a horrible thing, dotted with moments of beauty, and visions of distant light. I'll never understand it, because it doesn't seem like it should be such, especially for people who try to be good. I don't get it, but you're part of the beauty of it.
So thank you for being a friend, and wonderful...and adopting me.
Hugs,
Matthew.
