Poem -

I will find you

I will find you

I walk around the shadows
Looking in the dark
Somewhere here's a little boy
Still playing on that park
The park that changed tomorrow
The park where his life stood still
When a Young mum lost concentration
As the boy was given a pill
Come and see some puppy's
No we won't be long
They're really very cute
No need to shout your mum
The nightmare had started
The pattern of abuse had just begun
A childhood was over
No more playing in the sun
A once happy little boy
Soon became an angry young man
With a mental health diagnosis
Looking for solution in a can
A lifetime of self loathing
Never going to school
Desperate just to find just one friend
Someone who wouldn't treat him like a fool
There he is I found him
Do you want to play
You don't like to talk
Don't worry I've got plenty to say
My crutches, yes I am ill
And yes I get afraid
It's then I write a poem
Or l get out my canvas and paint
Your favourite colour is blue
What a coincidence mine is the same
you also like animals
Do you mind if I come again
The next time I go to find him
He welcomes me at the door
I painted this especially
Let's hang it on your wall
The more I get to know
Then my magic powers I get to use
We'll help you to move house
And then we'll kick the drugs and the booze
 And then yesterday an interview
Just voluntarily at first
On an inner city farm
This will help break the curse
Animals have a way
They never seem to judge
Always happy to see you
Always making a fuss
Now all I can do is wait
I've done everything I can
Will he get the job
Will I watch the boy become a man
This case is nearly over
Each one takes its toll
Each time I promise myself
I won't return to that hellhole
The hellhole in my mind
The memories I have to use
To walk once again in the darkness
Of course there of my own abuse
Your grandma used to beat you
Who used to climb in your bed
Do you want to play with me
Hold my hand, let me in your head
And so it begins
Another child to find
I know he's hiding somewhere
In the recesses of his mind
