Poem -

If Love Is True...

A Dream of You

If Love Is True...

What is there to do today?
I fear my thoughts have lost their way
I've climbed the precipice of hope,
Yet peace remains this dangling rope

I've chased that rodent 'cross the track
And wasted days upon my back
Contemplating Master plans
Never carried 'cross the sands

But I don't work not there with you
Without your heart there's nothing true
And now I wrestle with the dawn
To hear it sing one final song

One last hope, one lone prayer
With azure eyes and auburn hair
Blue portals to another place
Beyond our realm of time and space

She gives to me her wonder free
Beyond the bounds that mortals see
But life can be a brilliant foe,
As fate divulges where we'll go

I've often wondered why this life,
So deeply lined with death and strife
Would show us wonders as our host,
Yet withhold treasures valued most

I know our love is something real
So far beyond a look and feel
It's something of a wayward dream
E'en poets couldn't dare to scheme

It's beauty of a far off land,
Beyond the reach of sunlight's hand
And never should the angels grieve,
A love that only He'd conceive

So I'll reside within this prayer
As God's light paints a picture there
A mural as I've never viewed
Of love so right, but still untrue.

Wow Matthew!  Life can sure be full of confusion and hard to understand all the reasons why things happen the way they do....a mix of pain and enlightenment at the same time.  I believe so deeply in prayer and faith to somehow clear those paths that seem so twisted in reason.  You write so much of the the characteristics of the classic poets I love...like Robert Frost or Ralph Waldo Emerson with imagery and such tight flowing lines. When you know love is real,  that inspires the rest of your life to find hope and focus...I love the message and the sentimentality of it.  You are such a great poet. I think you should publish your work for others to appreciate.   Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

You know, you're so ridiculously nice and encouraging, that you could make Parrotlegg think he was William Shakespeare!
Thank you! You are the heart of this site, young lady. I love your heart, and how you make everyone feel great about their writing, it's really wonderful.

And thank you for the kind words about the poem, and the guidance. I have a horrible time figuring life sometimes(I have a lot more luck figuring numbers), but I'd rather figure out life. lol.

You always understand my poems so clearly. I'm glad you do, and I'm glad you're my friend, and I'm honored to know an Angel.

Thank you!!

Matthew.

Hi Matt,
Parrotlegg. I noticed you included me in your comment, so I thought I'd come see what all the ruckus was about.
I've got a few simple tips which I think might make your poetry a lot better, if I may:
1. Use disappearing ink when writing your poetry. You will still seem relevant on the site, but the horrific writing will eventually go away, and no one will know what the heck you had written, just that you were there.

2. See tip 1.

3. Remove your yak-like hair from your eyes prior to posting, and actually see what you were going to post, then delete...quickly!

4. See tip 1, again.

5. Post your work on Dorkthreads.goober, they'll love it.

OK, I hope this helps.

Parrot.

Hey Tony,
Thank you!
Could be...is your wife Verna Foospopper III? (I think it's about her...I plaguerized it from my friend Hymie Fernpopper, and that's his wife...too, I guess...I don't know, it's all very confusing). Actually, your wife is the nicest person on here, and I may come off as overly-gregarious to everyone who happens to glance my way on a poem, but that's just me, I'm too friendly, I guess, as I've had some rough times in the past, and I tend not to care too much about myself, which seems to allow me to just be crazy, and say anything, because that 'when you've got nothing, you've got nothing to lose', Bob Dylan-ish attitude appears.
Anyway, I'm sorry if you didn't like it, but thank you if you did, and I appreciate it.
And thank God I've got Parrotlegg to bring me back down to earth with his stinging comments!
Thanks Tony!

M.
