Knocking on heavens door

Knocking on heavens door
To see the person I do adoreÂ
If only you could’ve phoned
To say you got there okay
I just missed the sound of your voice
And needed to see you anyway
The way you smiled when you saw me smilingÂ
Said you weren’t the only person who was aware of the timing
But now your gone it seems so unreal
That when I reach out your not the one I can feel
Instead I’m met by nothing but air
Words can’t describe how much I wish you were there
So I’m knocking on heavens doorÂ
And I’m greeted by a man
I asked him a question he didn’t understandÂ
I said “when are you coming home? I miss you so much”
The man stood there silently not even touchedÂ
He soon replied that that’s your new homeÂ
You won’t be coming back, nor will I be aloneÂ
He told me there’s something special he’dÂ
Like to sayÂ
He said you watch over me every single day
I told him to say that I love youÂ
But all he said was “no can do”Â
He said “but don’t worry he knows your here, as he’s been listening for all the year”
With that I walked away so very confusedÂ
Then a heard a laugh, highly amusedÂ
I turn around to see the man closing the gate, I’ll come back another day, the story can wait.
