Poem -

Lady Spring

Lady Spring

It is now nearing April,
yet Lady Winter still cleaved,
and so I asked Lady Spring
why this lover she deceived.

I enjoyed the balmy days
she warmly showered with glee,
so why does she now delay
her luscious kisses on me.

With a beckoning finger
she called at my saddened heart,
and smiling whispered softly,
"my warmth to you I'll impart."

She promised me her sister
would be finishing her spree,
and that soon she would depart,
sending spring to embrace me.
