Poem -

Late Love in Life

Late Love in Life

Shall God grant me the precious chance
To touch the face of late romance?
Within life’s storm of will and way
You offer warm inviting stay

And how I long to settle down
Upon love’s sacred, holy ground
No hurtful words find gulp of air
Where respect suffocates their lair

Spread your wings, so I may enter
Snuggled in sensual splendor
Where I can gaze into your eyes
To savor grace of love’s emprise

For pleasure comes in just to know
Your love covers me, soft as snow
In thoughts and words, safely preserved
Our time and place is well deserved

My hand is here, waiting to clasp
Warmth of truth, found in you at last
Reserve a day, kept in your mind
Where love and dreams become combined

I will meet you on heaven’s stairs
With fragrance only forever wears
So we will finally consummate
Our late love in life, worth the wait

Hey T!  Thank you so much!  ;)  Yay!  I worked so hard on this poem to try to get its flow and content to work together and keep its meaning in tact.  I want to put this poem in my collection to publish next spring. I feel its words in my heart and I think it represents me well. I am glad that you liked it so well.  For me, romance and love are the most important aspect of life...and ever an inspiration to me writing.  I am glad you are proud of me.  It is my dream to write more books and get my work out there.  Thank you for believing in me.  Love n Hugs, xo C

Oh thanks!  I had a hard time finding a picture I liked, and then this one I had to crop to fit...but I think it gets the idea out of two people reaching for each other to embrace. ;)

Cheerie,
How beautiful(and the poem, too). It's just another gorgeous look into a wonderful, romantic heart. You are too sweet for words(my dentist would love you, though). As I read it, I was with you, floating down a peaceful, beautiful, warm river of love, that I wished would never end.
You're such a great writer because you just put your heart into beautiful words every time.

Gorgeous write,

Love and hugs,

Matthew.

Hi Matthew,
Thank you!  You got the gist of the feeling I was trying to exude.  I believe love should be peaceful and comforting....and can happen at any time in life when we are open to it and recognize its value.  Finding love later in life, brings a deep appreciation when you have lived many experiences that led you to that meaningful moment that you want to embrace, forever. You are very kind with your encouraging comments and humor....lol  I am blessed always by your support.  xo Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

You're welcome. There's nothing as beautiful as seeing someone's gorgeous heart laid out before you in poetry. Someone else could create a technically perfectly worded poem, but if the heart is not there, it pales dismally to writing like yours. It's still beautifully written, but incredibly accented by the feeling in your heart. That's the way I like to write. I have no clue about form, or anything, but try to make it feel. I really love your writing. Great job.

Matthew.

Awww...Thank you, ;)  I disagree with how you view your poetry though...for you write with perfect metering and rhyme and syllable count....a perfectionist!  I do not know how to write any other way than with my emotions, so I am thankful you appreciate that about my writing.  Your last poems have been so beautiful and ones to be proud of.  You are a talented writer.  Between crunching your numbers at work, you are definitely an artist at heart. xo ;)

Thanks Cheerie,
You're sooooo nice. I wish everyone in this world was like you, it would be such a perfect place.
I'm tired of crunching numbers anyway, they just seem so...numeric, or something, so I'm thinking of opening up my own cloning service, Matt's Home Cloning, 'We'll clone you in the privacy of your own home! As you sit in your armchair watching Survivor!(that's our motto), and I was thinking that you should be our first customer. We need more you's! Anyway, it's a simple procedure, we come in as your sitting there(you can nod off if you'd like, but just put some plastic sheathing on the chair, because sometimes it gets a little messy if we hit an artery, or something), and when you awaken, viola! 4 more Cheeries! And a better world.
OK, see you Saturday at 4:00.
Thanks,
Matt's Clonialization.

Lol....The world would be a very nice place with more funny Matthews in it...Four more of me would just be four times as confusing.  But I wouldn't mind nodding off in an armchair for awhile...lol  Could we play Scrabble or something else besides messing with arteries and DNA manipulation?  We could spell the word "CLONIALIZATION" and other big words.  ?? xo ;)
