Poem -

Leaning To Dark

Leaning To Dark

"I have given my soul, and I am weary...may I please come in from the dark?"

This life is full of dark and light
There's pain and joy and day and night
It's hard to find the one that's right
And doesn't seem it's worth the fight

I've often thought that love was true
The only peace I ever knew
But love is often beat by life
As innocence meets bloodied knife

Dancing on the edge of time
I'm looking for my final rhyme
As once again I've seen the sun
Then realize the day is done

A see saw on the edge of being
I wonder if it's light I'm seeing
Or if the side that leans to dark
Is but the one that life does mark.

Hey MATTHEW!!....I know for some writers it's in the poetic questioning...... the inability to answer to those hurdles in one's life that drives them on to their greatest accomplishments!!......there's an aspect of that running through this VERY well crafted piece...... it creates a strong compelling tone the whole and helps greatly in its flow and continuity...... being so open with your thoughts and hypotheses makes for truly powerful poetry and you've nailed it here dear brother poet!!.....ALL STARS!!.... well done..... keep fighting through the confusion.... your heart is true!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo  : )

Hey Tony,
Thank you so much for the kind words! I seem to be so much better at the sad ones(I wrote this in 2 minutes, I swear), but life does seem to lean slightly farther that way sometimes, doesn't it?
Thanks for the encouragement. Sometimes you want to give up that fight, but then people pick you up.
Much appreciated, my friend.

Matthew.

Hi Matthew...This really pulled at my heart.  I can feel the pain and questioning about why life seems to bring such darkness and feels like a teeter-totter.  There is always hope, my friend.  I am always looking for those moments of light..that prove there is a way out of the darkness.  I have come to realize in my own life experiences, that the darkest times, as painful as they may be, always leave that ache to get out of them, and that feeling is what drives us to find a way out and see the light.  You write so profoundly of that lost place...I know where you are coming from. There is power in painful expressions....an honesty that is beautiful.  As your friend, I care about your struggles...and appreciate your strength and depth from pain.  You are a beautiful soul.  Much respect.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie  ;) xo

Hi Cheerie,
You are sooooo sweet and such a nice source of inspiration!
I really like your positive attitude, and your sense of wanting to always help people. You're like an angel in this world, you know that? It's really cool, because without people like you, things would REALLY lean to the dark.
Anyway, I so appreciate your friendship, and kindness, and your heart. You're a wonderful person!

Hugs and loves,

Matthew.

Oh my gosh, Sparrow, you think like me! lol.
People always say 'life is short' and I say really, I think it's kind of long! lol.
Thank you, Sparrow, for all of your support, and friendship. People like you, and some others on here do make the world a lot nicer.

Hugs,

Matthew.

This is excellent Mathew, such feeling and emotion. I like the reference to the 'see saw'. as I too struggle with the pointlessness of it all and then I'm up in the clouds again...keep writing because you have loads of talent 🌹🌹

Marion,
Thank you soooooo much. It's always an honor to be complimented by you. because I can tell you're intelligent, and kind. Really nice, thanks.
Life is truly a see saw, isn't it? Unfortunately, it seems to lean to the dark too often. I guess we just have to believe.
Thanks for reading!
Your friend,
Matthew.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the exact words that express how a poem had affected me...I have never been the best at doing that. But if I say that something has truly touched and moved me then know that that is the greatest compliment I could ever
give...and that’s what your poem has done..my lovely boy...you write beautifully and no matter that it might take a short time to construct ,that does not detract from the skill you have in assimilating all those thoughts amd emotions you have into words that reach out and impress themselves on the reader in such a powerful way. Lovely work my talented Honorary! Xx

Wow, At first glance I was thinking, 'nice simple poem' then I READ it and realized the depth of emotion and feeling, not to mention how difficult it is to write in couplets that have flow and meaning. Welcome to the dark side.

Hi Barry,
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it.
I do write much better in a dark way(because I spent so many years there that it's mostly what I know), but I recently met a beautiful friend who's making it awful difficult to write dark anymore.
Thanks for the comment!

Matthew.
