Lonesome's Aquarium

Lonesome's Aquarium

Imagine if it were you
living behind a glass barrier.
Imagine if you were the one
that with a swim by, struck terror.

Every day is predictable
inside the translucent prison.
Eyes immediately ogling
every day when you had risen.

Freedom would be an illusion
when in your glass box.
Only a few inches between you
and those who watch like hawks.

What would you do all day?
You wouldn't have thumbs to twiddle.
You'd swank by, disheartening.
your facade they seemingly belittle.

Being separated and alone
day in and day out
might make you feel secluded
unable to shout.
