Poem -

LOSS

LOSS

Oh my God!

You lost your other half
A piece of you
Gone a hollow
A void

And I would say
“Sorry for your Loss”
“They’re in a better place”
“I know what your goin through “

But what I mean is
I can’t look
You appear to be a bomb-crater
Gutted

A demolished building
A crushed egg shell
I can only watch and wonder
will you survive

I stand open mouthed
To say “my God
Did you see that?
 They were just Shattered!”

Crushed
Masticated
Spewed forth
Alone

How do you hold a person
Skinless
Completely wounded
Devastated

Breathless
Gasping
Searching
For reality

No soother
No solace
No salve
No Balm

I’ll just stand here,
In case,
You want to hold on,
A hand up.

I’m here

I can feel the pain in every word..the helplessness and confusion and  yet the warmth of human compassion shines  through.A very emotive piece beautifully written, thank you for sharing this with us. Lodigiana x

This is a very real and relatable piece John.

It brings back memories of when my friends son died. It amazes me of how he managed to carry on with life and eventually smile again.
