Poem -

Love's Discretion

Love's Discretion

As the sun shapes the shadows
Shining light on night’s curfew
I hold images of him
Love’s affection in preview

These tears I cry have purpose
They yearn and burn in their search
To overturn injustice
Declare grace in sun ray’s perch

Though I am lost in this world
Which persecutes my nature
I live for love’s docile draw
In poetry’s portraiture

Truth twirls out in loving words
Immortalized forever
Prudence poses practical
His forbearance waits clever

As we dance in daring dreams
Free of ruthless repression
I imagine his winsome grin
Sharing in love’s obsession

Unobtrusively, he loves me
Patient in dawn’s painted path
As the sun shapes our future
In discreet silence, we laugh

Hi Charlotte...Thank you so much.  I am big on alliteration in poetry....lol...I feel it helps the flow and gives a more poetic feel.  I am so happy you found it beautiful.  Thank you.  I promise I am going to go check out your latest poem right now...It is so nice to see you on here!  I missed you. xo  Love n Hugs  ;)

My gosh, Cheerie, are you a romantic soul!
That's gorgeous. There's a reason I call you the Goddess of GLove(gorgeous love). You're amazing. You should write a love story novel. It would be fantastic!
And you're so smart! Beautiful lines in this, beyond the amazing sentiment.
The whole second stanza, great. Sad, and beautifully written. "In poetry's portraiture", awesome(and no, I didn't look it up to see if you used poetic license making up that word...well, maybe I did, but I love it!). And the last stanza beautifully paints the hope, and joy, of the love realized.
Gorgeous writing, as always, Cheerie. You're the best!

Love and hugs always,
Matthew.

Hi dear Matthew, thank you.  I did not know you have been calling me the Goddess of Glove (gorgeous love) but I will take it as a high compliment.  I have been told by many people to write a romance novel...and my next book will surely have some romance and adventure in it....I don't think I could write anything without a love story in it...lol.  I appreciate how you always sensitively reflect over what I write and let me know that you really get me.   That is so comforting.  Thank you, M.  And, yes, "portraiture" is a word and I sometimes use poetic license a bit with my words, but this one fit what I was going for...lol.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

Hey! Yaks are people, too.
Do you guys remember the first time you fell in love with a yak? When you were little, and fell and skinned your knee, who fixed you up? A yak? Yes! When you wanted to learn how to drive, but your parent's were too busy, who taught you??!! Some yaks!
All these good times with yaks, and you still aren't appreciative of them!
For yaks sake!
Where's your yaksense?
LOL.
Thanks for being beautiful, you two!
Go yaks!
Matthew.

I don't recall a yak ever doing those things with me as a child, even though I had a very creative imagination for sure!  Lol....But I do love animals and I am sure yaks are mighty fine creatures..lol  You are so funny. xo ;)

I remember, once, when I was drowning in my parent's bird bath, a yak appeared out of nowhere, and pulled me out and mouth-to-mouthed me back to life. I was forever grateful, and took him into my house, until he ate my shoe, then I was very angry. It was a Canadian loafer, fashioned from felt, and rhinestones. I loved that shoe...you know, you're really odd for reading this stuff, Cheerie. LOL! You're the greatest!

Me odd?  You are the one who keeps telling all the yak stories...I cannot help but read them...It is like passing by a bad car accident and you just can't help but look out of curiosity and a bit of warped interest.....lol....  ;)

Hey Jill,
Don't tell Cheerie, but I think she's a little loopy from all these yak stories. Oh well, yaks in slacks.

LOL!! You made me laugh aloud in my office! I looked like a dork with a giant grin! Thanks a lot! LOL.
I remember one yak, his name was Ernesto Flabbergums III, and he hated fruit, and one of his cronies fed him a banana in his yogurt, and he went nuts! and started screeching like yaks do, and then calmed down, and went home...so, it's not a very good yak story...but it just goes to show that...again, you're very odd for reading this stuff!! LOL. Teasing!

AMAZING.

I've always been able to acknowledge the
talent in those whose genre I don't necessarily
prefer, but until reading your works Cherie I
had never been a FAN of romantic, sensual poetry.

Your alliterative wordplay kicks ass too.

Works like yours could make the most embittered
cynic feel like holding hands with a beautiful person
by moonlight, or walk across sandy beaches with
the noise of the tides crashing.

It sincerely draws one into.

bravo friend.

Hey J!  I take that as a huge compliment!  Thank you!  I am actually going to put up a poem today that makes fun of myself for being such a huge romantic genre fan....how sappy and sentimental I am over them....lol  I hope you will check it out..because I am well aware that I am a bit obsessive over the romantic poetery.  I have seen a few of yours that prove you do have a romantic heart in there...just an overwhelming amount of sadness and darkness that hovers over you.  I am so honored by your comments on this one.  I love alliteration and trying to make poems flow with their use.  I am a dreamer and live with fantasy in my head....Thank you for your exciting comments of support.  You are such a great poet and I respect your opinions.  xo ;)
