My Only Daddy

Dad, I think about you all the time.

I wish you were here to guide me through life.

I need you more than ever right now,

I’m lost and confused.

It’s so hard growing up without a daddy.

We met only once that I remember, you asked me for a hug.

I wouldn’t give you one,

I didn’t understand that you are my father.

The next time I saw you was on the news,

You had gone to Heaven to be with mom.

        I wanted to go to Heaven too, everyone was leaving me.

I wish I could’ve gotten to know you.

I often wonder what my life would be like if you were still here.

Would I live with you?

Would I be happy?

I love you so much, you are the only daddy I’ve got.

One day we will be together, this time I won’t push you away.

It hurts me to know that you won’t be here to walk me down the aisle.

How am I going to explain to my daughter that here grandpa is gone?

I’m strong, I know I will I make it but I want you to know

I have not forgotten about you or who you are to me,

And I love you with my mind, heart and soul.
