Poem -

One Complicated Day

One Complicated Day

I lost my way, on one complicated day
Some may claim it was by my costly delay
I dawdled and stopped to smell the red roses
But the thorns closed up in deceiving poses
I never felt the quick prick of crimson bleed
Nor healed the wound in hurt’s hedonistic need
Instead, I walked around with a tied blindfold
With a view of naivety’s unkind hold

Forgive me for stumbling on fear-shaken ground
My future’s unsteady, my footing’s unsound
But my stubborn heart declares it must feel
Discerning the past with a new beat’s appeal
As I desperately search for a warm embrace
Some benevolent port, or safe harbor space
Where kind eyes show a sunset with gentle gaze
And love sings simple, with no complicated days

A Lonely Journey

Wow, Cheerie.
That was beautiful. The longing in those gorgeous words is so intense, and your heart again yearns so deeply. Always keep that heart open, because it's too beautiful to close down. Life can be such a horrible thing, and a lot of us finally give up at some point, but if you do, it will be like the sun burning out, or a flower not returning in the spring. You have a wonderful heart, and it always beams brightly in your poetry.
Wonderful write.

Love and hugs, always,

Matthew.

PS. It's all gorgeous, but my favorite lines are these:

'As I desperately search for a warm embrace
Some benevolent port, or safe harbor space
Where kind eyes show a sunset with gentle gaze
And love sings simple, with no complicated days'

because I see that hope again. Beautiful, my friend. Love, M.

Hi Matthew...Thank you!  There always seems to be times in life when we look back in retrospect that we can see mistakes we have made, or impossible decisions that haunt us....and change the course of our lives, for better or worse....but I always try to find hope despite hard times....lol  I appreciate that you believe in me and always find the heart beat of my writes...Thank you for always supporting me.  Love n Hugs, xo Cheerie ;)

Hi Linda....Thank you.  God never promised us that life would be easy, just that He would be with us through our trials...Life always throws a curve ball and can be very unpredictable....and sometimes, if we think back over our life experiences, we can see a pivotal moment that stands out as that "complicated day" that changed its course.  I have seen it many times in my life...and that inspired this..Thank you for your kind support. xo Love n Hugs, ;)

Hi Jill...Thank you.  I was just thinking of days that stand out in life...that change the course of our lives...and how we do not see their effects until later in life and then it can make our futures feel unsure.  I always appreciate your kind support.  Love n Hugs, xo ;)

Hi Greg...Lol...I guess it could be from getting old....lol...but the longer we live with more experiences it shapes the future by the decisions we made yesterday....It can be scary to worry about what our days ahead hold when we feel insecure and a bit lost...Thank you for reading and commenting. xo ;)

This was so captivating! We often try to stay blind to things that hurt us because they can be so beautiful at the same time. I really enjoyed reading!

Hi Rebecca....Thank you.. Good point and perspective....I think we sometimes cannot see things until retrospect later in life...and then have to figure out where to go from that point of revelation of what we learn...It is never fair to play the "should've,  could've, would've" game...as life is not about living with regrets, but trying to move forward and learn from experiences.  Thank you for your support. xo ;)

Hi Greg.  Thank you.  That is a very kind thing to say.  Bless you.  I stay so inspired by you and others who are dedicated to presenting their best on Cosmo.  It means so much that you read and comment on my work.  Life can be so complicated and it is funny how our choices and decisions can change everything in a split moment of time. xo ;)

If, you, do not mind.... I would rather think of " A Fine Day " !
You, have to realize that is important. Just now.
I want you, to know, what comes readily at this point, and what does not.
The " emotional crisis " lessened by want, and need, of more. If, you, understand that.
It, is in all of us, to perceive better. Than, convoluted mechanisms only giving temporary reprieve from flirtatious diversions, to cause trouble.
Surely, you grasp " realities " !!!

Hi Richard.  It is in the recognition of the "want and need of more" that I think creates changes in life that are necessary.  I have always one to be overly cautious and naive about life and love....but desperately wanting the simplest of desires for my own life....Funny how when we want simple things, they are interrupted by complications that confuse the heart and mind.  Reality in necessary to interpret correctly in order to create greater fantasies in life...lol.  Complications can be a fine day when they are a wake-up call.  Thank you for your elaborate commentaries on my work. Love n Hugs, xo ;)

My Dear Cherie,

A day like no other, was put in my path
Tempting my gentle nature, to fight it with wrath
But I did not succumb, I eschewed all my ire
For I knew love was coming, to ignite my Soul's fire

All my love,
Larry xxx

Hello dear Larry....Sometimes we have to get through a lot of road blocks to find our life has a clear path....and I know I have had my share...When we look in retrospect of our lives, we learn a lot to shape our future.  I love your sensitive verses...Thank you.  xo Love n Hugs

Hey J.  Thank you.  You sum up well all the emotions jumbled into this one...When love is complicated it can be all those things.  I need romantic verse to somehow save me.  Lol Thanks for showing continual support, J.  xo ;)
