Play Me a Sad Song

Play Me a Sad Song

Author Note: Inspired by Sarah McLachlan's Full of Grace(one of the saddest songs I've ever heard), and a friend I sometimes share music with. Why is sorrow so beautiful sometimes?Β

The night, it longs for light of day
As lovers pass the time away
Tell me why this life is wrong
In grieving tones of your sad song

Reach inside and touch my heart
Sing it to where love might start
But as it starts to sing along
Break it down with your sad song

The longing sax, the crying horn
May fill the void from which it's torn
And even though it may seem wrong
Reset the pain with your sad song

Liquid notes of darkened blue
Grieving of my time with you
The final set for which I long
Take me home with your sad song.

Hi Matthew....Music definitely stirs the heart and soul and can complement or emotions and take us away to another place.Β  Sarah McLachlan is great at making one feel and respond with her music's profound emotional persuade.Β  Great song!Β  Your words are very befitting and beautiful too.Β  I love how your rhyming and rhythm make this feel like a song...and how you bring up how every instrument has a feel and contribution to make a song work.Β  Great composition! Thank you for sharing. xo ;)

Brilliantly written!! A very cleverly woven description of the emotion of sadness and yet the beauty that one can find in it. I so agree with the comments above! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½

Thank you Silent One!Β
I am sadness for some reason, and it's ingrained in me, always, yet there's still beauty in it. I guess there must be a reason. It must mean something.Β
Thank you for the kind words, as always. You really are an amazing person, from seeing your writing, and kindness to people. You're an inspiration.Β
