Poem -

Promissory Prayers

A Time and Design for Love

Promissory Prayers

Promissory prayers float everywhere
In the star scattered, sapphire, fiery sky
Mine are more inclined to longingly linger
Lost unclear in the stratosphere
Where it appears that they dangle
In their curious contemplation

I am just discovering myself of late
As if fate changed its mind, leaning towards kind
The night sky gently takes off my blinders
Exposing reminders of repressed pain I hide
Psychedelic dragons dance in twilight’s bow
Not allowing me to ignore their twirl now

I hear the voice of love, and Heaven opens up
Offering me the stars, sun and the moon
I shyly deny my place to touch its beauty
As if pain holds me earthbound in servitude
But oh how I wish to meld in milky way bliss
To feel the kismet kiss hidden in love’s eclipse

Dance diamond dragons! Dance for me!
Show me circumstance when stars shake free
So I can collect only one and hold it as mine
To believe there is a time and design for love
May life’s lonely centrifugal force lose its course
And promissory prayers prove impossible to ignore

Cheerie,
You are amazing! I believe you may have created love(if not, you have taken it to new levels).
Seriously, though, that was beautiful, and you write so wonderfully about the one true thing in life, love. Your words here are exquisitely penned! When you convey a longing to your reader(as you have here) where they feel your longing as you do, you have created something beautiful, and I felt every word you wrote.

Great, great writing, as always!

L&H,

Matthew.

PS. All hail to the Duchess of Devotion! ; )

Hi Matthew....Thank you.  I always feel your support in all I write and appreciate your kindness.  There is so much I do not understand about this world we live in and I came up with the title first for this poem, which is not the norm.  I thought of all the prayers that people send out to God in hopes of feeling heard and validated...Sometimes our prayers are not always answered the way we hope or not in the time we want an answer....I am bad about needing to be more patient...lol  I think I always look to find evidence of love....and sometimes it is even hard to accept that we are deserving to be loved from a past of hurt.  This poem probably does not make much sense to readers, but for me I guess it represents learning about myself and relying on prayers.  Love n Hugs...Cheerie ;)

Thank you, Jill.  What are we going to do with Matthew?  Maybe give him his is own beauty pageant crown so he will feel special?   I always appreciate your kind support.  I was not even sure where I was going with this one....lol..but I think it is about searching the sky for answers in life and trying to know one's self in the process of getting answers from God about love and life...xo ;)

I guess I've never been accused of being beautiful before!(but you don't have to rub it in!). LOL.
Well, Cheerie IS quite a bit more beautiful than myself, so I'll let you slide.

Hi Marion.  Thank you so much.  I kind of got lost in this one about its intent....lol...but I guess it has to do with learning about who we are in this world and leaning on prayer to guide us in life and love...I always respect your comments...Bless you. xo ;)

My Dear Cherie,

My favorite line of your beautiful poem is "To feel the kismet kiss hidden in love’s eclipse".  Ever since I was sixteen, and my parents took me to see the stage play, "Kismet", I have been interested in how fate can guide us through life.  The Chinese call it "Joss", while the Jews call it "Beshert".
Regardless of what one calls it, it is a strong testimonial, that the stars lead us to our destiny.

Love,
Larry xxx

HI dear Larry....The older I get, I guess the more I believe that some things are not coincidence at all and that the stars must be aligning...That, and the fact that God listens to our prayers and has a plan for us in life and love if we are sensitive to his signs and also look for fate's hand in it.  I always respect your insight, Larry.  Thank you. xo Love n Hugs, ;)
