Poem -

Sentimental Street

Sentimental Street

Meet me, going down sentimental street
Where memories linger, soft and discreet
Waiting to reveal the reasons they appeal
When the rest of the world never feels real

I can glance back at times, confused of why
Moments of love’s clarity make me cry
Wondering if the journey helps me know
Which experiences hinder or let me grow

Walking down sentimental street’s review
Best thoughts often stop and rest upon you
Playfulness and passion flood back to me
In visions of how love’s supposed to be

Every now and then, I have to laugh
As consoling release on my behalf
For the world holds a distorting mirror
Where warped images perceive clearer

I live inside my mind to escape pain
And listen for his voice, like healing rain
So that my heart can change reality
By whispers of love’s geniality

Meet me, going down Sentimental Street
Where our life paths cross with sincere entreat
Please, take my abandoned hand, gently lead
To where impassioned love is loosed and freed

And Sentimental Street fulfills that need

Hi Jill....Yay!  I am excited that you liked this poem well enough to pin.  Thank you!  I think time to time in life we should take inventory of what our life has been and where we are, and where we would like to be heading....what strikes the heart as being sentimental and worthy to hold onto and what to let go of.   Starting a new year made me think of the inspiration for this one.  Thank you! xo Love n Hugs

A Lonely Journey

Cheerie,
What a wonderful road that is! I'm moving there. Is that in Heaven? Or Boise? lol.
Cheerie, you're such a beautiful writer. You have a wonderful, smart mind, and that, combined with the love in your heart, makes for fantastic poetry!
My favorite lines are:

'Walking down sentimental street’s review
Best thoughts often stop and rest upon you
Playfulness and passion flood back to me
In visions of how love’s supposed to be'

I think because I see love the same way, as a mixture of two of my favorite things, playfulness and passion.

Really, really beautiful Cheerie.

Thank you for always showing us the charming, sweet, wonderful love in your heart.

Love and hugs,

Matthew.

Hey Matthew!   You always make me feel so good with how you relate to my poetry and let me know what stands out to you.  I think with the new year here, it makes me reminisce a bit about my own life and what has stood out as painful and what has stood out as beautiful moments.  It is the latter that is the goal forward...lol.  I can be a bit sentimental over love and the moments that are freeing.  Thank you for your very kind supportive comments.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;) xo

Lol...Who is Freddy exactly?  Thank you for such sentimental comments...lol  I am honored you liked this one so well.  I will add it to my collection to publish with my publisher.  I will always ponder the things in life that touch me and make me want to draw closer.  I am a sentimental person, as you know, and to reminisce over life can really stir up those moments that mean the most to embrace again.  Thank you for your valued support.  Love n Hugs, C xo ;)

Wow, thanks for taking me down that street again.
Somewhere I  go before putting pen to paper, and somewhere to hide now and then.
Lovely and a nice swinging rhyme too.
Thank you  x

Hi John...Thank you!  I think we all should take a stroll down Sentimental Street to evaluate our life...where we are from where we have been and what changes and goals we should make based upon those experiences...Thank you for your kind support. I am happy you say my rhyming was swinging...I like to try to make a good flow for when my poetry is read.   xo ;)

I remember this place, it fills my heart with warmth when I return, I recall walking Alice home, we were just kids, I kissed her and suddenly fireworks shot up into the sky, it was amazing, the timing had to be faith, those fireworks will always be there to guide our love.

I love your poetry Cherie, it always makes me feel better.

Thank you

My Dear Cherie,

A song from my youth, and long before yours, called South Street, by The Orlons, had the lyric, "Meet me on South Street".  Your beautiful poem inspires me to write a poetic comment using "Sentimental Street" instead.

Oh Baby, meet me on Sentimental Street
To relive how we met
It took not long for me to realize
That I was your Teacher's Pet

.
You taught me what true love is
My tutor captured my heart and Soul
Now, so many years together
Your love keeps me ever whole

All my love,
Larry xxx

Hi dear Larry.  I will have to look up that song by the Orions.  Beautiful verses, as usual.  You let me know that you get the heart of my writes.  That is a true blessing.  I think as we get older, we tend to go down Sentimental Street, more and more to remember the sweetest moments that make us who we are today...and appreciative of love.  xo Love n Hugs  ;)
