Poem -

Shadow Dancers

Shadow Dancers

Every now and then, when shadows flit across the wall
I believe they could be you and me, twirling at the ball
In subtle reflections of light, like sifting sands in dance
Our silhouettes saunter in sensuality's proud prance

They stretch across the room in apparition's floating veil
Conjurers of magic, and they convince me very well
So this is what we look like hand in hand, when standing close
This intense intimate dance of love, I have missed the most

For the first time, I'm lighter than air, you're everywhere
Seductive shadows become one, making love on the stairs
I can almost breathe you in, feel your skin next to mine
Those teasing shadows have me believe our lives will align

So, I watch them dance, in my hope-filled trance for tomorrow
Where moments of imagination I'll no longer borrow
For eventually, we will twirl in reality
And shadow dancers come daily as our normality

I love this poem
I like to watch shadows
in the day time and at night
the trees as the day goes by
the birds when they fly over
and at night when go for walk
and see your shadow
and shadow on the wall
lot fun I want to write
poem about shadow
in life just haven't
gotin around to it

Hi Greg...Thank you. I think you should write a poem about shadows since you feel inspired.  I have always liked to watch shadows too.  As a little girl, I would make animals with my hands to cast shadows on the wall of them.  In this poem, I used my imagination of seeing light and shadows on the wall that lead into thoughts of seeing a couple dancing.  I am glad you liked it. xo ;)

This is lovely Cherie...there is something magical about shadows, just wisps of ourselves caught here and there, a verse of hope and love ...beautiful 💕

Hi Marion.  You summed up well my intention....of seeing shadows and using imagination to create a glimpse of hope in seeing a couple dancing...seeing a future of love.  I think shadows can be magical too.  Thanks for your thoughts, Marion.  I appreciate your support.  Thank you.  xo ;)

Cheerie,
That is so gorgeous! You are just such a romantic writer, and I could read you all day. Your lines are beautiful, some even reminded me of beautiful songs. And putting it to dancing is just wonderful. There's something about a slow dance that is unbelievably beautiful, so close, and warm, and eternal, and you've captured the feeling gorgeously. New fave.
Great writing, as usual, and great heart.

Hugs, and love,

Matthew.

Hi Matthew,
Thank you!  I love slow dancing, and I find it such an easy scene to write about.  I am honored that you say you could read my poetry all day...You would probably begin to see a pattern of how sappy I am about love...lol  So this one is yet another new favorite? Are you sure?  ;)  Shadows can look like anything, and even in imagination can become lovers dancing and finding connection to bring hope and beautiful thoughts.  I get stuck in those kind of romantic reflections.  It made for an inspirational theme to write about.  I appreciate your understanding of that intimacy of dancing.  There are so many great love songs for dancing to for sure!  xo Love n Hugs, Cheerie  ;)

Hi Cheerie,
Yes, definitely one of my new faves! And I agree, I have a list of songs a mile long that I'd love to slow dance to with that special one.
Great write!!

That's great to keep a list....I hope you get to dance to each and every one of them.  Watching shadows on the wall can be romantic....seeing the outline of two in that moment of a love song.  I am glad you get it...You say so many of my poems are favs of yours....It makes me laugh, but I am honored. xo ;)

This is wonderful.  As you know I rarely use rhymes in poems as I consider myself an Imsgist, however you do it well.  Most poets who use rhymed are novices but you young lady are an expert

Hi Greg.  Thank you.  I try to NOT rhyme and do freestyle, and I have a hard time doing what you do!  I do not like rhymes to feel forced, and for me they need to flow and feel natural...which is difficult sometimes.  So, I am thankful for your comments that I do them well.  Thank you.  I like to write love poems that express a story or emotion that will stay with readers...and rhyming helps that sometimes.  Thanks, Greg. xo

My Dear Cherie,

The dancing shadows on the wall
Are the reflections of our love
These silhouettes of serendipity
Illuminated by stars above
.
They envelope my very being
I am lost in passions pure
They bring me true assurance
That our love will e'er endure

All my love,
Larry xxx

That is a beautiful response in poetic verse, as usual, dear Larry.  Thank you.  I have a creative imaginative mind, and I just saw the image of lovers dancing and their shadows being cast on the wall....validating the emotional beauty in the shadows.  I always appreciate your sensitive poetic verse in return to my poems.  Bless you.  Love n Hugs, Cherie ;)
