Shroud

Shroud

A sheer black shroud is impairing my vision.

It covers me in deep depression.

Darkness seeps into my soul like

water through a sieve.

It’s hard to find the will to live.

I hope for the day that this blackness will drop

and for the agony to stop.

There is broken light

that dances upon my head

as tears in veiled darkness are shed.

Shrouded by this mourning cloth

I pray for God to rip it off.
