My first real friend, made at ten.
I knew she was forever, even then.
The memory has faided now only to be replaced by more.
Two little lost girls, freedom at our core.
Three parts to us there does lay, each one shown on a different day.
Who we truly are, who the world made us and who we showcase socially to keep our guards robust.
How lucky am I to see all three, in you my friend, my special beauty.
The gifts you bare so bravely with care.
The stories of pain you so graciously forgave.
The abyss of your soul, certainly measures untold.
However, my favourite has to be how you so selflessly love me.
You kept your pact, you unknowingly made.
That day twenty five years ago in fourth grade.
You have seen me fall and you have seen me rise.
The happiness you share when the latter applies, is second to none and usually only seen in a parents eyes.
So thank you my friend and for the chapters we have endured.
And here's to another twenty five years or more.
