Poem -

Somber is the Songbird

Somber is the Songbird

Somber is the songbird, when her voice is unheard
Her chirping ย may sound cheerful, her words inferred
But when no one responds to her efforts to sing
She feels alone, unnoticed, not worth anythingย

She preens in the sunshine, with care and attention
Wings spread to the sky for heavenly ascension ย
She pretends she mends by singing her best love songย
Then waits, anticipates, for someone to sing along

With determination she sings a hymn of grace
Her eyes wide with wonder, surveying her tree space
She still sits alone, yet something changes this time
She swears she hears a divine voice, of heaven's chime

So she sings with gusto, feeling a calm presence
Each note important, shared with spiritual essence ย
Significance beyond who hears her beautiful sound
Somber is the songbird, until her purpose is found

Hi Simon.ย  I love to observe nature and learn what can be applied to our lives.ย  I think some of us can feel so alone, even with our best efforts to shine.....and sometimes it takes confidence beyond our insecurities, knowing it is not how the world judges us, but how our Creator sees us for His purposes, that can make us find true joy....no matter how the world around us can make us feel.ย  Just as this songbird would sing hoping to get attention, then realizing that it did not matter, for her song was appreciated by one greater than the world's opinions.ย  There is indeed a more personal message I think I am trying to learn myself in this...ย  Bless you for reading and commenting. xo ;)

Hi Edward.ย  Thank you.ย  I like at my new house we just bought that there are woods all around us and a creek....I hear songbirds and the songs they sing that we can take for granted, but they still sing their little hearts out as if it is their duty and calling to do so....even if they get no recognition for it.ย  Thanks for reading!ย  xo ;)ย

Thank you, Sweet T!ย  ;)ย  Sometimes we just need to sing our hearts out even if no one notices...or do what we know our Creator wants us to do or be when the world just goes on not taking notice....but God does....That was my thinking...xo Love n Hugsย ย

Brought from a hard fall to a soft rise. I love the contrast sister poet this was simple but important. "Somber is the songbird, until her purpose is found". I think it's really a thing of magic when we can use our words to bring emotions to life and hold them suspended in the air with poetry from nothing. The songbird that spends her time looking for her purpose is sure to find it, all stars. Much love C!

Hi CO....Thank you....I know there are times in life when we feel unrecognized for our talents and abilities and think what we do doesn't matter....but God always sees and knows our hearts.ย  Our gifts are for HIM and to be appreciated on that value...not what the world thinks or anyone if we know we are doing it for His approval...Those were my thoughts on this. If we know our purpose is bigger than we can imagine, it should give us confidence, like the songbird finds.ย  Thank you for reading and giving great comments.ย  xo ;)ย

I admire how deep your thoughts can go and how much beauty and divinity you can see in nature, it takes a beautiful heart to hear and feel what's not directly shown! This is such a tender and gracefully written piece, with a hidden message (as said before in the comments), that needs to be felt more than to be dissected. I so love this, pinnedโœจ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you, Silent Dreamer.ย  I am sentimental over nature and being sensitive to how it relates in my own life....I like that you say my message is to be felt more than dissected....That means a lot...I want readers to feel and see what they want in my poetry in aย  way it affects them.ย  Bless you.ย  I appreciate so much your kind support of my work.ย  xo Love n Hugs

For some reason, this broke my heart... I don't quite know why but this did leave me in tears... I guess just thinking about another little songbird who just wanted someone to notice her. I hope she found peace...

ย We used to sing together... I would hum to her, and she would hum back, we'd hear a song, both smile, and start at the top of our lungs... Hm, I guess you're right about one thing, I felt like I meant something when she sang with me, like the whole world stopped to listen, and that we were the only ones in the world so special...

ย Thanks for this Cherie. I have a new poem to write, this brought back some memories.

Hi Dmitri...Aww...I did not mean to make you cry.ย  I think I can relate to this songbird at times too...We all want to be noticed and appreciated for our contributions in this world.ย  What a sad sweet story you related to me.ย  I know you are really hurting over loss and the bittersweet memories of her.ย  I think singing with someone is such a bonding thing to do.ย  I sing harmony with Tony sometimes on some of his songs he wrote and we play in the car.ย  I thank you always for your support and insight into what you read.ย  I will have to check out your page...I am so behind, as usual...lolย  xoย

Hi Lisa...Thank you.ย  I adore your nature poems, and it is obvious that you appreciate nature as I do!ย  Lolย  I think I learn more through nature than I do observing people...I just saw a common bond with how this bird felt in how I too can feel....xo ;)ย  Love n Hugs
