Poem -

Something in the Incense

Something in the Incense

There must have been something in the incense
That made me linger longer than I should
The aroma enticed me, intensely
Everything about him smelled so good

I yearned to be consumed into his world
To understand his mystery and lure
He circled around my curiosity
Testing levels of what I could endureย

I swayed into his persuasion, delicatelyย
Surrendering into his deep intonation
The soft inflection of an angel's voice
Unveiled my desire's determination ย

His sensual dare wafted through the airย
Kicking my inhibitions out the doorย
There must have been something in the incense
Pushing me, expectantly, with more to explore

Finally, he gave the kiss I could not ignore

Thank you, Linda.ย  I think when we fall in love, it is soometimes sneaky....a subtle play with all our senses.ย  Even a smell, can stay with us as a memory of our first rush of emotions that signal in love.ย  I appreciate your kind support. xo ;)

Hi Anthony.ย  Thank you.ย  If it looks easy, that is a great compliment, but poetry is very strategic and trial and error for me in the process of writing it..lolย  Thank you for your kind support.ย  I am happy you liked it.ย  xo ;)ย

Cheerie,ย
That was just gorgeous. You are such a fantastic writer! I mean, even just your little nuances, like when you inserted that line(there must have been something in the incense) back in the last stanza, and then followed it up with more beautiful words, it just punctuated the beauty of the poem, and your loving heart. (Don't tell you this, because you'll get mad at me, but I wish I could write like that).ย

Awesome, Cheerie!ย

Hi Matthew. Thank you. It is a great compliment that you notice the little nuances of my poetry. It lets me know that you really reflect and consider when you read poetry. But do not compare my poetry to how you write...I love your own unique style that inspires. You have perfect metering, syllables, and timing in your rhymes.ย  I have much to learn from you.ย  I focus on the emotional effect when I write.ย  I don't know how to write any other way. Thank you for all your support.ย  You are the best.ย  xo Cheerie ;)ย

OK, Cheerie, I think you're part angel, am I right?ย
Did your parents happen to bear the names Gabriel and Uriel? I thought so!ย
You don't need to change anything about your writing, it's fantastic, and gorgeous because it's from that remarkable heart, so please don't learn from me. lol.ย

As a matter of fact, I just read a review by Rex Reed(famed film critic who now does poetry), comparing and contrasting our works. Here it is:ย

"While Cheerie writes with an effervescence reminiscent of angels singing in a lovely garden of Eden, Lonely Journey's outputs sometimes seem as if a large monkey, perhaps an orangutan or a disoriented gibbon, have regurgitated on a piece of parchment in the jungle, and it has congealed into a repulsive scrolling of excrement.ย
So, I think Cheerie's is a lot better."ย

Lololol...and more lololol.....I don't know how you come up with these comments, Matthew, but I know for a FACT that if we had a review of our poetry, Rex Reed, nor any other critic would EVER say what you just said about your poetry.ย  Still, I do like a good laugh and your wit and intellect allow endless effective rhetoric that never ceases to amaze.ย

By the way, if you look closely in my hair on top of my head, you will see two distinctive devil horns.ย  I try to conceal them, but when I get comments like yours, I just want to come clean, as to not forget.ย  Thanks, my friend.ย  ;) xoย  ย ย ย

LOL!(Lose Our Legs),ย
Ummm...devil horns would disintegrate if they came within 50 yards of you, young lady, so you can't fool me. You're the nicest person ever.ย
