Poem -

The Heart of a Horse

The Heart of a Horse

The lifeblood of my soul runs its steady course
My love’s sustenance holds dear the heart of a horse
Dapples and grays, painted pintos, and dark bays
Galloping gaits fill my dreams, inspire my days

When violet streams run along meadows of green
The horse sashays past with unmistakable sheen
And the sound of his hooves pounds perfectly sweet
Like the synchronous pleading found in his heartbeat

I feel giddiness, giddy-uppiness, and joy
There are horses in my house as model horse toys
All over the walls, inside curios and shelves
Magic placed them there, or perhaps sneaky elves

For me, inspiration comes from nickers and neighs
Thrashing manes and tails have mesmerizing displays
When the wind whips along slick backs of stunning steeds
The heart of a horse is unmistakable, indeed

My Dear Cherie,

I hold an apple in my hand
The horse takes it so tenderly
He whinnies a sweet thank you
And swishes his tail for me

.
These most magnificent of creatures
Have forever captivated my heart
The greatest "apple of my eyes"
My love for them ne'er parts

All my love,
Larry xxx

Lovely words Cherie, there are two ponies in the field at the bottom of my garden...a Shetland and a black and white pony, Sonny and Rosie. They are not mine but they are my friends and come every morning and during the day to visit. I am blessed 💕

Hi Marion.   Thank you.  You are blessed!  I live in a culdesac with only seven houses on our street...and right outside our street there are two horses I see whenever I leave our neighborhood...a black quarter horse and a dun one.  We have only lived in our current house since last March, but I hope to meet the neighbors with the horses to see if they would mind if I pet their horses.  I would love to bring them apples or carrots.  But for now, I enjoy seeing them out grazing.  Sonny and Rosie sound cute.  I just love horse!  ;) xo
