Poem -

The Nightmare Man

The Nightmare Man

Imagine, if you can, an ugly little man,
Just two feet high and ever so sly.
His hands, like his heart, are as cold as ice
And there is nothing what so ever about him that's nice.
He comes late at night to steal your sweet dreams
Swapping them with bad ones that make you scream.
Working in the darkness when you are fast asleep,
He puts your dreams in his sack then off he creeps
Out of sight, quietly limping into the night.
He is a goblin man this nightmare man.
Such a nasty little man!

Imagine, if you will, this creature who can fill
Your head with such pictures of dread.
His eyes, like his heart, are hollow and black
And for the taste of sweet dreams he keeps coming back.
He gets in your room anyway he can,
There is always a way for this horrid little man.
He lurks in the shadows while you are sleeping,
Working his evil then off he goes creeping
Out of sight, quietly limping into the night.
He is a goblin man this nightmare man.
Such a  nasty little man!

Imagine if you must, and you will I trust,
That this thief of dreams is not what he seems;
That he, like his heart, is as lifeless as stone
And there is nowhere in the night, at all, where he roams.
Just remember to say your prayers before bed,
Forget of this goblin, think of nice things instead
And then should your dreams turn to dark as you sleep
You can shout, "Go away!" And then he will creep
Out of sight, quietly seeping into the night.
Say goodbye if you can to the nightmare man.
Such a nasty little man!

Thank you, Charlotte 😊  I wanted to do a poem that kids might enjoy too. I wrote it a while back now but was never totally happy with it. But I changed a tiny bit of it and am slightly happier with it now...happy enough to post it anyway😁

Thank you, dear friend, for reading and for your lovely words of support. It's always lovely to know you enjoyed reading 😊 🌹🌼

Thank you very much, Dean. Much appreciated ☺   He is certainly a vile, nasty, little man is this goblin. He's probably got all your good dreams in his sack. A nasty thief of dreams 😉

Hi Tina....When we have nightmares, it is a wonder why they come and whence they go...lol....It is interesting to think of an actual kind of creature of night that brings them. I remember as a child having such bad nightmares, and once I started saying prayers before bed, they eased up.  I like the repetition and the imagery of this "imp"...lol  He really is not a nice man at all!  lol  Enjoyed your creativity.  Love n Hugs, xo

My Dear Tina,

This "Thief Of Dreams" sneaked in at night
To replace them with a nightmare's fright
But before I layed me down to sleep
I prayed the Lord my Soul to keep

.
Then as the Goblin entered in my room
He felt the wrath of his intended doom
The floor gave way, as he quickly fell
Finally stopping, at the Gates Of Hell

Love,
Larry xxx

This is an extremely great write very outside the box in yet you caught my eye in the words that tell about nightmares and it’s very overseen in people dream sweet dreams and never let the nightmares in I loved reading

He sounds like one of the devil's little helpers. This does have a 'tale before bedtime' vibe to it. I like it, Tina. :)
