Poem -

The Rose and the Light of Love

The Rose and the Light of Love

A simple red rose grows
In a thorn infested garden
The sun’s soothing stroke
Sends harbinger’s hope to hearten
For beauty cannot be crushed,
Nor torn to shreds in love’s light
Even as the world can poke and prick
With all its might

So, the rose reaches up
With all her strength to see past
The thorn piercing pain
That surely cannot forever last
She feels the wavering warmth
Of truth shining down
Just enough to help her petals bloom
With crimson gown

The thicket of thorns cluster and form
A clever barrier
But the glimpse of the sun
Promises to carry her
The rose strives to survive
Her life’s treacherous demise
With slow, steady rise
Above her thorny comprise, she cries:

“In my deepest pain,
Growing in prickly destiny,
The light of love shines above,
And brings out the best of me!”

Hi Greg....Thank you!  I appreciate your support.  Some of the best things in life come from experiencing struggles and pain to become what they are that shows beauty despite the work to get there.  Nothing that matters comes easy, and nothing easy ever really matters....A rose grows in beauty despite the thorns that entangle around her as she grows....but somehow her petals open to reveal such an incredible aroma and gorgeous presence...I thought about that and used it for a metaphor in my poem. Thank you. xo ;)

Thank you, Linda...I have roses along my front porch that I planted last spring to make my new home feel my own.  They inspire me with their harsh environment of thorns, and yet bloom with such beauty despite that. Love n hugs, xo ;)

Hi Jill.  Thank you so much!  Beauty and purpose comes at a great cost to come into fruition...but nothing that matters in life comes easy though.  I have seen this over and over in my own life....Despite trials, we all can bloom and show what we got inside!  Lol  xo Love n Hugs

Oh Cheerie,
That was incredible! That may be my new favorite poem! (Are you serious? How do you keep topping yourself? You amaze me!).
It's soooooo sad, and yet so hopeful, and strong! I ran a gamut of emotions as I read that. Some, because I know you, and you're one of the most wonderful people I've ever met, and some because I feel a lot of the pain and sorrow in this piece in my own world. Amazing!
You're a beautiful writer, Cheerie, and person.
I have to give you some of my favorite lines, because some hit me quite beautifully. I love the first stanza, because I so know the pain life inflicts so clearly. I think my favorite lines are:
 'She feels the wavering warmth
Of truth shining down
Just enough to help her petals bloom
With crimson gown'

Just beautiful! Crimson gown, awesome!

And I just love the last, spirited, decree! Nothing can darken your beautiful spirit, and faith, you are the sunlight!

Beautiful writing, Cheerie!

Love and hugs,

Matthew.

Hi Matthew.  I am honored that this one may be a new favorite...but then again, you always seem to make my writes feel special...lol  I have small rose bushes that I planted last spring in front of my porch, and they remind me of the difficulties in life like thorns, that sometimes try to inhibit us from growing, but when we look for those things that give hope...as the sunshine does to help the rose grow, we can bloom despite the pain that inflicts us and tries to impede our purpose.  I respect those who work hard to endure...for nothing that matters ever comes easy in life.  We appreciate what we work hard to achieve.  Patience and persistence are the key I believe.  Thank you for always supporting me with such kind comments. It means a lot that you believe in me.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

Cheerie,
Could you possibly have a more wonderful, amazing outlook on things??!! That is such a wonderful analogy, and I love the way you see the beautiful flowers among the thorns in that write.
Wondeful mind, my friend!
Love,
Matthew.

Thank you.  It has just been my experience in life....Those things we work hard at show reward...but not until we have truly endured suffering to appreciate their value.  Bless you.  xo ;)

Such strength conveyed in the determination of the rose to survive...or maybe just acceptance that higher powers will provide all the necessary elements ...uplifting and lovely write Cherie 💕

Hi Marion...I think this write is about both themes you expressed...You are always very discerning, Marion.  I am glad you understand the heart of my writes.  I think all things that turn out beautiful come from hard work and determination.  Love n hugs xo

My Dear Cherie,

This rose of greatest beauty
Struggles to survive
Surrounded by such deadly thorns
God's Sun will save her life

All my love,
Larry xxx

I could not have summed it up better....there is always a savior somewhere in life when it seems one is surrounded by an antagonist's torture.  The rose gives perfect example of how its beauty is threatened by sharp thorns all around it, but it still will bloom with such beauty from finding endurance and hope in the sun's light.  Thanks for your beautiful summation. xo ;) Love n Hugs
