Poem -

The Sound Of Enchantment

In the mist of merriment, a stranger appears
Feigning benevolence and welcomed
By the young and vulnerable
Frail trust of unimagined fear
She heeds not the hollow sound of enchantment
While she looks, into enigmatic eyes and smiles
Upon this charming man of magic
Runs home to let all know, their world is saved
And she'll be safe, when she's out there on her own
But as soon as she departs
She detects it in her heart, the doom
Entrapment, she fears, in the dark and the unclear
Unmasking, in a strangers' room
No escape, her flesh is theirs
As it trembles to the abuse
Her spirit dies, with every cry
Wishing death through day and night
And all she can see is family
With the fear to return, if she was free
For all her pain, there is shame
In the memory of their pride
She'd rather disappear
Than have them know she's passed
So sends them all she'd saved
Before drifting out into the dark
Then walks home, through the mourning rain
But no one waiting at the door
She goes inside and stays close by
A silent shadow, they will not know
