Poem -

The Spirit of a Sparrow

The Spirit of a Sparrow

Some people amaze me with their spirit and strength in adversity, and yet their ability to remain kind, and wonderful. This is for one such soul.

I watched the Sparrow as it flew
Against the sky's impressive blue
And though it was a lovely sight
She stole it's beauty with her flight

The sun it threatened with it's pyre
To light those gorgeous wings afire
But not even the cruelest heat
Could phase a courage so complete

But soon the hunter rose his gun
And steadied on her pretty run
Though as the aim of death did fly
Our angel sang to clouds on high

The leaden flight attained it's quest
And gathered red on snowy breast
But as the dogs did scour the ground
From treetops came angelic sound

For nothing of this life could steal
The beauty of her soaring zeal
And still her colors brightly shine,
Just adding one to her design.

I've seen better poetry opening up a can of alphabet soup!
Don't quit your day job!..even though you stink at that, too!

Thank you for the kind comment, McFurry.
Ummm...I'm a professional whittler, and I'm pretty good at it. My boss said the toucan I whittled looked like a nauseated melon, so I think it was a compliment, so please don't berate my employment.
Thank you.

Hey Red,
Don't be envious(or I'll write something for you, and you'll have illness). You're one of my biggest supporters, and I care so much about you, and some day, I'll write (I want to insert the word 'horrific' here, but I know you'll kill me) poems for you. It was just that Sparrow gave me a sudden inspiration when she said something, because she's a nice, little fighter, and her spirit hit me(and it hurt), and she broke my heart, and helped my heart at the same time, so a poem popped upon me. She's really nice, like you.

Thanks for being awesome!

Matthew.

Aww....I hope Sparrowsong sees this and she will appreciate how sweetly you have portrayed her flutter...lol  She does have a spirit of care on this site and brings a softness we need to feel in life.  I am so appreciative of my friends on Cosmo who show beauty in this world.  This is a lovely devotional pieced.  I loved it.  xo Love n Hugs, Cheerie

Thank you, Cheerie!
I am so thankful, too, for you, and her, and others who make this whole world brighter, even past the site. You know, in my wavering faith moments(which seem to be a lot), you guys make me think 'there is a Heaven, and I'm going to see these people again, there.
Thank you!!

Matthew.

Thanks Kay! You're so nice!
Someone really nice I met on here, and she kind of told me her story when I asked her why I hadn't seen her for a while, and she inspired me because she's such a brave, bright soul. And really nice, too, like you.

Thanks again!!

Matthew.
