Poem -

The Truth is You

As the World Fades Away

The Truth is You

The sun ascends toward the day
As seagulls lope along their way
My eyes do battle with the light
And heart remains within the night

Another journey through the crowds
Beneath the slowly drifting clouds
To buy into their gilded dreams
While thoughts remain in drifting streams

Staring at the printed word
Soft whisper of her voice I heard
Shrill sounds above the race do ring
As Sarah's voice does sadly sing

And so I shut the mayhem down
And turn to you without a sound
And die within the beauty there
And leave the world without a care

We all may differ, as we're wired
But me, of struggles, I am tired
And as the clock reports the day,
I banish time and turn away

You are the sun within the dark
The peaceful singing of the lark
The tranquil water of the lake...
The final peace for which I wake.

A Lonely Journey

Hi Matt,
Parrotlegg here. Thanks for the lunch the other day, so I'm begrudgingly here to comment on your poem.
I really thought it was good...but that was when I thought it was about a visit to the zoo. When you told me it was about love, I threw up a little in my mouth, and then went to the zoo. I thought I would put your poem to good use, and lined the monkey cage with it, but then they became enraged, and chucked it back at me.
Anyway, it was good(ugh).

Roberto. (you owe me another lunch!).

Hi Matthew....Very beautiful in such a somber setting....but the beauty of hope shines in this poem.  You have a way of making sadness a very sentimental and reverent place.  I admire that about you.  It is worth every moment of sadness to seek that peace and tranquility that someone gives....that love shows you. You so deserve that in your life.  You write with such a humble approach to struggles and trials....as if you ask of nothing, but appreciate the grace of love when it appears.  That is such a spiritual gift you possess. Despite how weary your soul may be, you still hold onto love.  So moving and inspiring.  You have a gift!  Ignore Parrotlegg above  and know that writes from the heart are always the best.  Love n Hugs, and puppydog tails....wait a minute, that did not come out right...lol  xo ;)  Cheerie

LOL. I like the puppy dog tales!
Thank you Cheerie! You're so sweet!
I swear, you could be my therapist! If I needed a therapist...which I probably desperately do. You get me so well! Sadness is my middle name(my parent's couldn't decide between that and Enrique, but went with the former). I have come to accept it, so it kind of infiltrates the majority of my writing, but then, it seems, God shines you a little light, when you think you've reached complete darkness, and there's hope. Crazy life. Thank you for all the kind words, and all of your light. You're the best!
And don't hate Parrotlegg. He's just an angry, bitter, miserable poetry critic.
Love and hugs, and monkey intestines! sorry.
Matthew.
