Poem -

Thunder In The Canyon

Thunder In The Canyon

There is thunder in the canyon………..

Not from the skies above
But down below
Stampeding wild horses
Storm in a row
Deep treaded rumblings
Thunderous swift hooves
Pound the ground with
Zealous thudding, cutting grooves

An ancient blood band
In a frenzied rush
Kick flinging rocks
Forming clouds of dust
Determined to return
To grazing land
Led by a spirited stallion’s
Proud command

His head thrusts high
Trumpeting a shrill neigh
Alert mares answer with
Whinnies, along the way
Bright flashes of colors
Flying at great speed
Grace in motion, zest for life
Unrestrained, free

A trail of blazing beauty
Shaking holy ground
A trembling thunderstorm
Triumphantly sounds
A stallion with companions
Pass proudly through
Sending thunder in the canyon
A streak of lightning, too

great write, sis, could feel the movement and spirit of these graceful powerful animals and felt the love and admiration you have for them, where would we be without horses, as a people, they are the personification of freedom itself, sometimes I wish I was a horse; not sure if they live long, but wow, wild horses make me jealous, with their grace and pure physicality, and I love the way you can articulate their passion, you inspire all who read all your poetry, but the way you speak of horses, not even Solomon could understand, I aspire to write of horses like this truly beautiful, enjoyed

Hi brother Chris!  Thank you!  ;)  I am so happy to see you on my page....I do have such an affinity for horses...I love to write about them, draw them, decorate my whole home with them...lol  Horses can live up to 30 years in captivity, but in the wild they live into their early twenties.  The movement of their stride is something that mesmerizes me to watch...especially in slow motion....like every step is rhythmically perfect.  There is nothing like the natural rumble of their hooves hitting the ground and causing their own thunder. I am honored that you understand my passion for these creatures...I will always write of their inspiration on my heart...Much appreciation.  xo  Sis C
