Poem -

Tired

Tired

And when no hope was left in sight, on that starry, starry night, you took your life as lovers often do...-D. McLean.

Maybe the universe doesn't like love. Seems like the sad songs outweigh the happy ones. Lovers live on the edge of hope, and despair, of dreams lost, and dreams realized again, and obstacles cleared, only to find more...it makes you so weary.
I thought my dreams were completely gone, and then I saw another sun(not the one in the sky, but a living one), and when I thought I didn't care about anything at all anymore, I care more now than I ever did again. This life is crazy! Sigh. But I guess we’ve got to keep believing, because without love, nothing makes sense...or matters.

"I can take all the madness the world has to give, but I won't last a day without you. - KC.

I step into day...
And hope it's not mired...
In broken, lost dreams...
I hope...but I'm tired

I play my sad songs...
The music inspires...
I live in the words...
And die in their fires

And I cannot escape...
The way that I'm wired...
But I only see love...
And my search has retired

I'm tired of Mars,
And I'm tired of Venus,
I'm tired of the fault,
Of the stars in-between us

And now that I do, I dream just of you...
But so it does seem,
The fates have conspired...
To leave my nights empty...
And my spirit uninspired

Oh! Please lay me down...
In the night that You've sired...
For the Light has betrayed me...
And I'm nothing...but tired.

Thank you very much, Jill, I really appreciate it.
Unfortunately, my head is a roller coaster of emotions, and that was one of those big drops. I think they're going to open a new ride at Six Flags Amusement Park called Matt's Head...it's a scary ride. lol.
Thanks for reading!
I like your writing accent! (thisun). That's awesome.

Hey MATTHEW!!...... this is a VERY powerful read and write.....I especially like it because I play acoustic guitar and I Love Don McClain........ and this song is a song (about Vincent Van Gogh) that deals with the struggle of being in this reality and his depression..... that being said..... You've done an excellent job of conveying that sentiment in this well delivered A,B,A,B rhyme scheme ~

                             ~ "I'm tired of Mars
                                 And I'm tired of Venus
                                 I'm tired of the fault,
Of the stars in between us.."

A gorgeously sad poetic lament..... dreaming of a love that can never be or has passed you by ~

~ "And now that I do, I dream just of you..."

I hope I haven't misread the intent here...... regardless, a well conceived and BEAUTIFULLY delivered write!!...... well done dear poet brother!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!....... Cherie Loves this song too so I'm sure she'll love this!!........ later.......T xo 🐧👍

Hey Tony!
No, you're right on, as usual, my friend. Sadness in love is my life's specialty. lol.
Thank you for picking out that particular stanza, too. I'm usually not that thrilled with my writing, but I actually liked that stanza.
I really appreciate your encouragement! I'm pretty much learning as I go, so all the kind words you and Cherie always give are truly helping me believe in myself. I know I'll never be Robert Frost, but I enjoy writing anyway.

Thanks again!

Matthew.

Oh dear Matthew, ...This is so sad...I have felt tired in life...as if I wish the world would leave me alone...It is the beautiful loving people in life that the world is hardest on...just like poor Vincent Van Gogh who was a beautiful and talented soul that felt so alone and misunderstood.  You are my friend, and I do not want you to ever feel alone in this world....Your sad words express that sense of displacement. It can seem like a chore to fight in life sometimes, but there is always hope. You are a great writer of emotional poetry.  You know I love your work.

Love n Hugs,
xo Cheerie

Thank you so much, Cheerie, and you're so right about the struggles of people who are actually good, decent people(and I'll never understand why, but...). It's like that saying 'The most beautiful hearts have felt the most pain...' But why?? I don't know.
The next line of that Don McLane song I quoted is: 'But I could have told you Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.' So true. It's a hard world to have a soft heart in.
I really appreciate you guys, and your kind words! You're the best!
Love,
Matthew.

Hey Lorris,
Isn't that one of THE best songs ever written? Absolutely beautiful lyrics in that song.
Thank you so much for your kind words as always.
Your friend,
Matt.
