Poem -

When Love Attests

When Love Attests

If I stood alone in uncertainty's shadows
Would you pull me out from the rain into the sun?
Few ever see me behind my insecurities
Your genteel appeal makes me come undone

If I asked you to simply hold my hand in yours
Like timeless lovers preserved for eternity
Would you view me as classic passion's pathos
Or see me softer, more maternally?

I may surprise you with the way I surrender
Wanting to remember heated ember's embrace
We match with melded minds where love redeems
I feel exposed by blushing rose upon my face

Come hither, to feel my heartbeat's persistent plea
It beats to complete our dream in love's honesty
Where beauty of your soul extols vulnerability
Begging me to cleave to its sweet modesty

No parasol could shade the delight on my face
Nor interferer parley for what I confess
For I know you will lead me out into the sun
Where I will shine, faithful to you, when love attests

A Lonely Journey

Wow, Cheerie, that was simply gorgeous!
Of course it's love(we love your love), but it's an amazing journey into a beautiful relationship, filled with wonder, and anticipation, and a little nervousness. It's so wonderful! It's like being inside your heart(a wonderful place to be, I imagine), and seeing a beautiful love unfold, and the emotions and feelings only love can bring.
I really, really loved that.
You are a gorgeous writer.

Love and hugs,

Matthew.

Hello Matthew! ;)  Yes, you understand the heart of this write...I think that when you love someone there is so much vulnerability that becomes exposed and it is scary to let go of insecurities from life experiences, but worth the pursuit to feel something so beautiful and intense.  That wonder and anticipation is such a motivator!  I am happy that you understand what I am talking about.  I am always honored by how supportive and encouraging you are with me.  Thank you.  Love n Hugs, Cheerie  ;)

Awww...That is such a kind thing to say Greg!  Thank you!  I wanted this poem to feel kind of old fashioned and set back in time of a more classic type of love...I am pleased that you are picking up on that.  You have always been so supportive of my work and I appreciate that you say you love my poems. That is what keeps me motivated to keep writing.  Bless you for being so devoted to reading poetry and for your contributions on Cosmo too of your own poetry. xo ;)

Thank you, Marion(on Cheerie's behalf), but where have you been??!! We've missed you! The balance of poetry was sooooo out of whack without you on here! We had beautiful poems like this, by Cheerie, and then we had my brutal writing which so outweighed her awesomeness, that the Cosmo ship almost capsized! Thank you for coming back! Please write(play on words) our ship!

Matthew.

HI Marion...Thank you!  Your opinions mean so much to me. ;)  I think I do have a certain childlike respect for love in a sentimental way....and I am sensitive to its many different ways to express itself.  It always inspires me.  It is so nice to see you grace my page!   I am happy to see you...I am behind on Cosmo and must catch up!  xo Love n Hugs ;)

Can I just interject that it is really nice to see you guys exchanging pleasantries, because you two are just two of the sweetest, kindest, most talented, and beautiful young ladies, and I'm really so glad to know both of you. I honored, actually.
Thanks Cheerie! Thanks Marion! You're both fantastic!!

Love,

Matthew.

Oh I love Cherie's work Mathew, it's always so romantic and meaningful and well written....but Mathew, I think a 35 year old daughter renders me ( not young) lol🤪😄...I'm going to accept all your other compliments though ...just because they are so nice, as are you, you lovely man 💕

You're young, and awesome, so accept that one, also, please.
And thank you for saying that, you're really sweet, and yes, I agree, Cheerie's writing is gorgeously romantic, and beautifully written. She's really intelligent, and has the coolest heart, and so do you!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Matthew.

As a matter of fact, I'm thinking of marrying Cheerie's poetry, as it's so wonderful(I'm taking her poetry notebook out on Saturday(we're going to a romantic, little French bistro, in Armenia, and I'm going to pop the question there. Hopefully it will write on one of it's pages 'yes!' So, wish me luck).
If the notebook does say yes, will you be our Matron Marion of Honor? (You just have to turn her pages on the altar for her vows, etc. And you hold the erasers for when we exchange them, then lift her veil when I write the words 'kissing the bride' on her page. It's a nice ceremony. I remember when I married Anna Karenina(nice book, although she left me for a copy of Doctor Kildaire after 3 months), we had the most beautiful ceremony, and everyone threw pens at us as we left the church...one lodged in my eye. It was nice, though. Think about it, OK? Thanks.

Wooh love creatively shines as you express in an appealing way!
Esp admired the embers and parasol line though the entire poem is delightful. May you feel such love forever that it grows into artsy poetry for all to enjoy. Glad i stopped by to read. Kudos.

Hi!  I am so glad you stopped by!  Thank you. I was trying to attempt to make this love poem feel like a classic old fashion rendition.  I appreciate you telling me what lines spoke to you...That helps me for future writes.  Bless you. xo Love n Hugs ;)

I never cease to be amazed at how consistently
intelligent, and well thought out your amorous verses
are my friend.

I find myself constantly wishing that more people
wrote like this.

And there is a strength in admitting insecurities
which many are too proud to admit. Yet you do
so unflinchingly.

Bravo hon.

Hey J.  I am sorry I missed your comments.  I am so honored by what you contribute on here and your thoughts on what you read.  I work really hard at trying to be original in how I write my love poems, and so I am touched that you find them intelligent and well thought out.  I am rather slow in writing poetry.  For some people they can sit down and it flows out..but for me I work and rework them, off and on during the day sometimes to get them to finally say what I want or be the emotional release I hope they relay.  Thank you so much for being so discerning.  I think sometimes love attests from the heart what our insecurities deny us at times...as this has been the case for me in life experiences.  Thank you for your kind support. xo ;)

HI Jill.  Thank you.  Through our insecurities in life, if we can still find hope in love, it can sometimes coax us out of our hesitations.  I appreciate your thoughts.  xo ;)

My Dear Cherie,

He took me from an abysmal valley of darkness
To the sunlit mountain tops
Before him, I sported an aegis
True love was ever stopped

.
But with him, I felt the brilliance
Of an unknown warmth and light
For "When Love Attests" what one's heart feels
You've found your Soulmate in the night

Love,
Larry xxx

Hi dear Larry, I can always count on you to bring out the most romantic aspects of my writes.  You catch both the sentiment and theme well.  I am always so inspired to write love poems...and the funny thing is that when I first got on Cosmo, I did not know what  kind of poems I would be writing.  But I am hooked on the love genre and it is my comfort zone for poetry.  Not that I cannot write of other themes, but it is a theme that always inspires and motivates me...I enjoy your poetic verses back to me...Thank you. xo ;)  Love n Hugs to you and Linda

When Love Attests... it certainly shines in the form of motivated commentary even when you're not here to participate LOL!!...... it's like you have some kind of poetic Soap Opera following in your wake that allows others the room to feel comfortable enough to find solace in their own self expression because of your fine-tuned example!!....... you are a truly Faith-driven writer whose words spill into all aspects of your readers lives!!..... it's really some kind of miracle!!....... Big smiles!!...... Love you...... Love your energy-driven light!!......smokin' grooves sweetheart!!........ hugs-n-kisses!!.......T xo. : )

A poetic soap opera?  Lol....I think it is great that my friends are so comfortable talking back and forth and having fun.  I am a faith driven writer and hope that what I write will affect others on some emotional level.  That to me is the greatest compliment to receive when others find insight and can talk about how my poetry makes them feel or see things in life.  I am glad you understand.  Thank you.  Love should always attest its place in this world.  Love you. xo C  ;)
