Poem -

When Snow Comes Down in June

When Snow Comes Down in June

Red roses open, in full bloom
In sweet peak from careful prune
With summer sky, I still deny
Snow never comes down in June
I hope for the impossible
As my heart believes it knows
That if love conquers all
Then surely, God will let it snow

The lake is warm and shimmering
Inviting by sunshine’s will
But as I walk beside it,
I feel repeal of winter’s chill
I need a sign that choices are mine
Despite life’s heated swoon
Will your spirit appear, ever near
When snow comes down in June?

Though soft and discreet,
I hear your heartbeat, pleading in the night
The reason I hold on, convinced that our bond
Is worth my fight
Inside me plays a somber song
Begging for a change in tune
I will instill faith in love again
When snow comes down in June

Someday, we’ll dance fancy-free
In that crazy place where dreams meet
Look to the sky for snowflakes to fly
As validation’s treat
Intense heat of summer succumbs to love
All reasoning strewn
The lake will quake with soft swarming flakes
When snow comes down in June

A Lonely Journey

OK, new favorite.
That's beautiful, Cheerie. I LOVE writing like that. The metaphorical, impossible-ish use of the snow in June showing your amazing, strong, hope and faith. Wonderful! You're just a fantastic writer, my friend. I could read you all forever.
I hope you get a gorgeous blanket of snow this summer!

Lovely write!

Love,

Matthew.

HI Matthew!  Thank you!  Do you remember that old song by Vanessa Williams called, "The Best for Last" ?  In that song she says, "Sometimes the sun goes round the moon.  Sometimes the snow comes down in June."  I love that song, and it made me think of how sometimes we have to have faith for miracles and to believe in something that seems impossible but worth searching for.  And love is definitely worth believing in....against the odds...Just like slim odds to see snow in June, but it can happen.  I am excited that this is your new favorite!  Thank you!  I am sentimental over this one.

Love n Hugs,
Cheerie

One Of ~ If not, your VERY BEST poem to date..... an absolute piece of poetic perfection in every way...... from tone to rhythmical flow it has ALL of the makings of a 'contest' winner...... the repetition of the title line, ending stanzas, works so beautifully that it takes the whole to an almost lyrical genre where the words stick in your head because of its 'chorus like' recognition of that repetition ( which is what ALL great songs do) ~

~ "When Snow Comes Down In June
When Snow Comes Down In June..."
As a poem, this is pure magical genius at work, bringing the imagery suggested by the title to life with phrasing that softly sings its heart out......
Very difficult to get this 'mantra-like' phrase out of your head after having read it in context!!....... Well conceived and BRILLIANTLY delivered!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......LOVE THIS!!....LOVE YOU dear wife!!........ kisses.....T xo

                                          BRAVO!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤

Oh wow!  I always second guess myself on what I post, but I am so glad you say it is one of my best.  I felt this one sentimentally as I wrote it and hoped it would come out soft and with heart.  I am so relieved you got that feel from it.  Thank you, Tony!  ;) Yay!  I will add this one to my collection to publish in my book.  Your words make me feel so validated for my intent and that I am moving forward in putting out my best work yet from learning and tweaking my past perceived flaws in writing.  I am so excited you like this one so well.  I appreciate your support.  Love n Hugs, C xo

Beautiful Cherie. How often do we make a demand of the universe to give us what we want, what we expect, only to have everything dashed because life just never works that way. This is beautifully executed and I love your play on the title in the verse. The last line in the first stanza is the one that sticks with me... probably because of my own experiences, but it shows the depth of your ability to connect with the universal consciousness. Truly wonderful.
Blessings.

Hi Rebecca...Thank you so much!  I agree.  We sometimes have expectations and desires in life that seem impossible to achieve...and it may take a miracle...but if we believe then even snow can come down in June if we hold on....I appreciate your kind support.  I am glad you liked it.  xo ;0

Now, " we are talking " !! ALL, THE  " BRITS " DO, GENERALLY, IS CONVERSE ABOUT WEATHER !! They, seem obsessed, by the climate. What is happening, and where, seems so significant. You, make the " transition " from sunshine to " frozen " showers so easily. AT THE LEAST, IT SHOULD NOT SETTLE AT THIS GIVEN TIME.
You, do not want to " slide ", or worse. Speaking volumes, a lay would mean " icy ", and the propensity to " bugger over ", on to your " DERRY- AIR " ! ( the Irish like the ways of " snowballs " too !!!! Even, now, in this month !!  :) ).
" THE BRITISH " mainstream volatility, reflected in stormy " passions " is quite disconcerting, considering adverse conditions.......to implimentation of FROLICS.
The " do or die " spirit is encapsulated in fixation, ironically, related to this " TOPICAL " heat wave. Do you get it ? In, reflection of " GOLDEN POND " , after a real downpour, you find what it is all about.....well, I " think so ".....don't you ? !! It is in " the self " that you find the reliance on atmospheric " representations " of CURRENT EVENTS. Do you not agree ?
" Where there is light ", let there be some thing going on to " CHIT CHAT " about. You, don't want to be bored, do you ? COMMON GROUND is there to be exploited.....along with the puddles or the freezing chills of a changing wind. YOU, HAVE TO BE FAIR. Do you not ? But, be wary of those  " nattering on " about this " sort of thing " too much. They can really put you " off your game " !!
Even " YANKS " can see that. Surely ? :) :)
Do not laugh. Do NOT CRY, or " scream " consistently. Discover what matters, even when a shock occurs. LIKE THE " CLEANSING BLANKET ". At whatever time, YOU FIND YOUR PLACE. :)
Composition of " sum " merit, despite everything, that has " gone on " !!!! :)
You, know that is true. CLEARLY. Even, at the wrong turn. Even, at the wrong time, of any year.
That's it. LOVING, the tone of a " BLACK AND WHITE ISSUE " !!! Though, grey clouds do come in to it. Do they not ?
SEE THE " SILVER-LINING ". Don't you....always ?
I feel, you will. If, you do not " GET IT ", already.
XX  :) :)

Okay Richard...Thank you for the weather update...lol.  Your reviews are always entertaining.  I believe in miracles...and waiting on snow in June is metaphorical for an impossible situation to occur, but with faith, nothing is impossible.  xo Love n Hugs, Cherie  ;)

Oh wow!  Thank you, Greg.  I appreciate that.  I really worked and reworked this one.  That means so much.  I quite often do poems that have a metaphorical message in representation using imagery...like in this one I used snow coming down in June as representing waiting on a miracle.  I appreciate your kind support. xo

Hi Greg!  What an honoring comment.  You really think this my greatest?  Thank you! I typed this poem in Microsoft word and worked and reworked it first.  I added the last 8 verses of it at the end, where before it had ended with the lines above that...I felt it needed more closure.  Then I copied and pasted it on Cosmo.  I work a long time on my poems.  I know some people can crank them out, but it takes me long time of reflection to write my poetry.  And, I don't usually start at the beginning of a poem, ....I start with a verse or phrase in my head that I like, and work the pome around that idea.  Thanks for asking.....I do appreciate your kind support.  xo ;)

that's great that you take
your time and write it down
frist and then go back to it
I wish I did that what I do
think about it in my mind
keep it there go over it many time
come in to cosmo2 -3 times write out
to see how it looks and feels
then get out and keep working it
intill I feel its right but I should do what you do
its better your way

My Dear Cherie,

The first day that I met you
My heart and Soul both swooned
The Summer Solstice had just begun
Yet it snowed in the month of June

.
For the icicles that had formed in me
Melted with but your touch
Now forever, e'er connected, will we be
Loving each other so very much

All my love,
Larry xxx
