Poem -

When The Spirit Lit The Flame

When The Spirit Lit The Flame

When the Spirit lit the flame
The world drastically changed
Lightning paled in its power
Time stood still within that hour

The mountains trembled in place
Satan lost his conqueror’s face
As the Spirit of Truth
Gave indisputable proof
Of grander plans for mankind
For those with God’s mind

With sound, like a mighty rushing wind
The Holy Spirit ushered in
With appearance of tongues of flames
Landing on those carrying God’s name
To go out in the world, enlightened
No longer alone, nor frightened

For God forever dwells inside
His Holy Ghost bright in our eyes
When the Spirit lit the flame
We were never the same

(Acts 2:2-3)

Thank you so much  Wilford....I was inspired by the sermon yesterday at church and thought about the day of Pentecost when Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to dwell with us and in us because He was returning to Heaven and wanted us to know He is always with us.  It is so comforting to know God is a part of us.  I am honored that you pinned this one....Bless you. xo ;)

Being Me

"When the Spirit lit the flame..."

I love that line!  This is such a religious write and not something I would normally read, to be honest, but that line just dragged me in. I love that line and the poem is very beautiful x

Thank you!  That line is what made me decide to write the entire poem around it.  I am glad  you liked it. I am honored that despite this being religious/spiritual, and not normally what  you read, that you still found my writing drawing.  I appreciate that.  I find my faith very inspiring and sometimes like to write what God leads me to convey in poetry.  I am glad you found it beautiful....Thank you.  ;) ox

Cheerie!
What a powerful, beautiful, spiritual write. Just gorgeous.
I just love the way you think, and beliefs, they're so refreshing in this crazy world. Please(and I know I don't have to ask this), but please don't ever lose them. God is bursting with pride over you!
I'm sorry I haven't caught up with much lately, I've been a little ill-ish, and still here at work, swamped. It was so nice to see this, though. I enjoy everything you ever write. You're so intelligent, and sweet.

That first stanza is amazing! And so is that last one!(and the in-between. lol).
This is my favorite, though:

'For God forever dwells inside
His Holy Ghost bright in our eyes
When the Spirit lit the flame
We were never the same'

Your eyes are a testament to that, beautiful.

Wonderful writing, my favorite person.
Tell the kids I'm still alive...just not in a living way.

Love and hugs, always,

Matthew.

HI Matthew,
Thank you!  I have you in my prayers to get well soon.  I am dealing with illness in my family too with my children.  I am always honored whenever you have time in your busy schedule to read my work and comment.  It means a lot to me that you understand my Christian faith and show such reverence....Thank you so much!  I think the pursuit of a relationship with God is the most rewarding and most important one we can pursue.  I cannot believe that Jesus left us with His Holy Spirit before ascending back to Heaven, so that we now are never alone, with God dwelling in us!  That is such a precious gift!  If I understand this, then it makes God's whole plan for His creation so much more special and with hope for His eternal Kingdom to Come!  Sigh!  I carry that hope.  Bless you for understanding that fire God lit at Pentecost!  I had the line, "When the Spirit Lit the Flame" in my mind, and wrote the entire poem around that....
Love n Hugs, Cheerie ;)

You're so talented, and amazing! Beautiful writing.
I hope your beautiful children feel well soon. They're so lucky to have such a great mom! You remind me of my mom, she was sooooo caring, and loving, and would do anything in this world for her kids. I miss her, but it's nice to see that there's someone else like her...God made 2 wonderful people in you two!
Have a beautiful(you) day!
L&H,
M.

My Dearest Cherie,

Just like the "Burning Bush" of Moses
Long after, God lit Mankind's Eternal Flame
He sacrificed His beloved Son
Dear Jesus was His name

.
But Mortals could not destroy Him
His Resurrection was meant to be
So that the Sinners of the evil World
Would then all be forgiven for their blasphemy

All my love,
Larry xxx
