YOUR IMPERFECTIONS AND ME

In bold letters the sign displayed
Walk away disaster lies ahead
But I could not resist your flattery
Irresistible charm and breathtaking beauty
You drew me in like a hungry fish
Lured by your colorful hair and uncanny smile
You create a world of dreams
Where only you and I could reside
But there was an alien living within
Hungry and thirsty for crack cocaine
A craving I could not satisfy
Needing to fly high like the clouds in the sky
In your unrestrained condition
You hurled insults at me
Your hands once gently and kind
Became fists of fury
Painting the dark images of your mind
My face became the canvas
And when consciousness was regained
Like a gentle breeze
You declare your love for us
But what can I do
I am still madly in love with you
And who can unchain my soul
Of which I've freely given
I am married to the end of me.
Wilford Barker.

A Tragic situation ~ VERY well conveyed in poetic fashion.......and placed directly in the shining light of a publicly poetic forum!!......Crack cocaine will destroy nearly ANY relationship that it impedes upon........It calls to its victims with wickedly powerful lust and heinously ugly greed!!.....almost NO ONE survives the wrath of this drug.......I am shocked to find this in one of your poems......and at the same time quite thrilled to read some REAL truth here......ALL STARS!!.....Bravo dear poet brother!!......thanx so much for sharing this my friend!!........LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo ; )
Thanks Sir T.
You should know by now that I love cast my net in the deep blue.. hoping for a new attraction.
thanks my brother and friend
Wow Wilford. It felt like a beautifully honest delivery of a difficult subject. I related deeply to the love vs addictions battle this describes. You perfectly created the imagery of the split personality that can take away a loved one from us while they are still here living. We see them disappear and wait for the day they come back for however long it may be. Hoping one day, our love will be enough. Great share. This is very well done, I really enjoyed reading. Sending good vibes and light always ☀❤
It was my pleasure Shelley- anne St.
thanks for your comments and hope that your friend or love one is doing better.
Tragic poem Wilfred, yet you penned it so well. Addiction can consume a person. Destroy relationships. To convey that message within poetry takes skill. You shined a light here in a wonderful way
