As in many powerful countries in the world, we in South Africa have a history of clandestine and covert units and movements. In the old days they used to run institutions like ‘Vlakplaas’ and used to spy on and take out enemy targets. This ghost of the good old days seems to have come back to haunt us once more. In the media one finds accounts of covert activities and units still being active, even in peace time. Spying and subterfuge seems to be once more prevalent in our country with new targets in their sights. Here is a few lines out of Revelation, The Bible; which might cast light on the subject. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
‘…and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed…’ A relatively small number of people.
‘…that no man may buy or sell save that he had the mark of the beast…’ Watermark of the R100 note in South Africa.
‘…for it the number of a man; and his number is 666…’ Nelson Mandela 46664.
Revelation seems to me to be more like a Shakespeare play with just a few players making up the essence. It is a story about an Apostle of the suburbs and a Beast of the suburbs. Where there is smoke there is sure to be fire. The only way to find out; is to find out.
