Blue Roses

I have always had a thing for Roses ever since I was young.
But through the years as kid I was picked on by other people and of course it
hurt to think that people were capable of making someone feel so
badly about themselves; but I discovered something. I discovered that I am
unique. Like most artists I discovered that one thing that made me different
from everyone one else: My Art. Art is self expression, and like the Rose it
has many dimensions. When surfing the internet for pictures of roses and
teaching myself to draw them by looking at the lines, I had seen a blue rose
pop-up out of nowhere. Most roses are either red or white and pink; or at least
the common ones. The blue one reminded me of myself; unique and different from
everyone around me. I am uncommon and from then on the Blue Rose became my
signature, and part of who I am. 

Just yesterday I made a life changing connection. Though recent times have been
difficult and at times I felt alone due to the
fact that my Husband is American and I am Canadian and we have to wait on
Immigration Paperwork and he is the one that has been taking care of it. I have
felt alone, but I came to find I am not as alone as I thought. I'm Catholic,
and so to discover this just opened my eyes even more towards my faith. Mother
Mary is the mother of Jesus and also the Mother of Heaven and Earth. She has
always been associated with Roses, mostly red ones, however I realized with the
help of my mother- in-law that Mary is always in blue. So the fact that I have
always had a connection to roses and especially blue ones means that she was
here with me the whole time. Protecting me, maybe not from bullies, but from
them ever getting to me so badly that I wanted to do something I would regret.
I have grown ever closer to my faith, thus my art has been given more meaning
than first thought before or at least to me :).
