My afro, it’s unappreciated
My color, overlooked by others
When “I” am assertive I am an angry black woman
I love you,
why do we say it?
what meaning do they hold?
the day of "I love you"'s
In a bad snow storm he found her
On a highway, bloody and cold
The man cried he watched it happen
from a moving car she was thrown
It’s funny how when you love someone...
You can feel it deep within your being.
It’s almost as if, all the way down to the heel of your foot…
Until she wasn’t
The physical tangible memories nearly gone too
The mementos once so precious Losing their hold on me
I’ve just gotten the results back, from a DNA test that I had done;
It’s confirmed my trepidations, about my only begotten son!
A year has passed,
Since we have spoke,
But it seems like yesterday;
Albeit.....all given, reciprocation dead
Truth prevails, no matter what lays ahead...
Remember when crumbles.......you the only one in shambles
Washed down with.
The only good things to come out of wars.
An act of greatness can find great in remembered not.
Sins of the past methodically written in ways to provoke thoughts forgot.
Why aren't you eating?
"Your skin & bones."
Why are you stuffing your Face?
"You're eating me out of house & home."
And so I say to you,
You stubborn man whose heart is indecisive
