Hi Cherie. Very kind of you to comment on this painting, Cherie. This is my latest painting to date. This painting is now just going into the direction I want it to go which is to paint with flow and poetic energy. I need to get to the point where I have more or less mastered the basic techniques in painting - value, hue, edge and drawing.
I cannot flow and bring in brush strokes that are full of movement and energy if I am still stuck in learning technique. When you are learning technique and you are feeling insecure, you tend to become too tight and controlled - the energy is not following. The same goes for figure skating and most arts.
I hate most of my earlier works because I know what is wrong with them and I am in the process of learning technique. I am trying to move towards the high quality of professional artists but not sure if I can reach their ethereal hights. I have a long list of painters whom I admire and I constantly study intently their works and brush strokes in order to learn the technique and skill they have acheived.
I took up painting in 2015 and that is not very long compared to many artists who have been painting since they were very young. Hence I have a lot of work to do.
Sorry. This is getting long. I highly appreciate your comments because I consider you to be a very talented artist in your field of poetry and novel writings. I am very glad to read in your private message that you are signing books in some stores and you are selling them in a Methodist hospital! Very well done, Cherie! You go, girl! :)
Thank you for your kind comment, Rene. I just changed the photo image. The previous image was not accurate but very poor. Now, I have uploaded an image which is much more accurate and closer to the colours on the actual portrait painting. Thanks.

the texture, contexts and use of negative space are fresh, fused with color and movement they show an inspired scope of the senses
