Quoting from You magazine 4 October 2012.

His son, Dean said he lived life to the full. Corrie was always positive, even when things were tough. His last message to Corrie was “ Thanks for everything Dad. You were the best in the whole world. I am going to miss you”

Kurt Darren: “……. He was an amazing good golfer… He was good at a number of sports and his children inherited his sporting talent. ….. He raised them with so much respect and love and instilled good values in them”

Darren Scott: “…….. I felt honoured that he shared these intimate details with me, yet watching him around others he nevr made it obvious, preferring just to smile, enjoy their company and make sure they are enjoying his, while hiding the thing he was struggling with inside. He read a passage from the Bible every day and was positive that God had a plan for him and that things would be okay”

Former SA and world junior lightweight champion Brian Mitchell knew Corrie well for more that 20 years. Brian attended a lot of Corrie’s fights. “He was such a nice guy, always involved in charity work. And he was a good parent, he was the biggest heavy weight boxer this country has ever had…….. We have lost someone special”

Looking at the painting it resembles the following:

The boxing glove with the sniper lens resembles his nick name for his sharp left hand he was known for. The boxing ring was not painted completely for his life coming to such an abrupt and sudden end. The boxing gloves hanging from the corner pole is for when he ended his career, and the cross and date his to honour his lifetime

The boxing belt is for the World Boxing Championship belt, but looking at the centre it resembles the shield that he was for protecting his daughter’s life, the compass is for the way and direction he brought in his children’s lives while he was still alive, as well as for after his death, as he would also add direction to their lives with the path set by his upbringing.

The golf bag is for his love the spot, but also for his outgoing personality. The golf balls jumping from the bag resembles his willingness to assist charities, and the green leaves the hidden troubles within himself.
