Jose, the first thing that draws my eye is the gargantuan metallic looking figure and then all around it.
That metallic figure/robot reminds me of Gort from The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Maybe an influence of a kind to you.
Another coolly drawn sketch and will be looking at more.
And any False Maria sketch's from Metropolis.
Or to consider taking on at a later date
That is one cool Robochick and iconic classic image.
Thanks Jose and great to see and perhaps soon the finished article in all it's perhaps colourful glory :)
It may well be Gort...who knows ? He's supposed to be a giant red stone like figure controlled by drivers that basically sit in his head around the eyes section. You can see more of this character design in the original "Onward Transport" and "Onward Transport (Alternate View)" pieces. I basically did a few different variations of it and thought they were all worthy of further development, so I went ahead with them. Something that I really don't normally do- but this one was so cool that I couldn't resist !
The article is actually a brief interview in John Thiel's IONISPHERE fanzine issue 40 that came out this past April. I put it up because the N3F that normally updates their pages, were not going to get to it until at least the end of June ! I wasnt going to wait that long, so I decided to scan it and put it up myself on my 3 websites. This one being one of them.
Jose after reading what you have said then all the more to this site being on of the chosen three.
And thank you for doing that for this reader would never have seen it or for that matter enjoyed viewing it :)👍🏼
No problem Shaun. Happy to have clarified that and hopefully you've been able to read it. Finally, here is the direct link below to the entire ionisphere issues (LOOK FOR #40 for my interview and art).
