I Am Woman

I Am Woman

Title: I Am Woman
Oil on canvas 60 x 50cm
Artist: Dennis W. Rowntree
This is more or less completed. I still have to add some touches here and there and especially where the 'values' are off, but I decided to post it today.

Oh my gosh!  That is gorgeous!  You really captured the essence and beauty of a woman....sigh!  You are so talented my friend!  I am so proud of you for sharing your gift that God has given you.  You are excellent at conveying dark and light contrasts.  I would love to pay you to do something for me.  I would be so honored to have your work hanging in my home and knowing my dear friend did it! Wow!  I cannot express how impressive your work is...I am blown away!  I think you are wonderful!  You are such an intelligent, gifted man, Dennis.

Happy belated birthday!  Love n Hugs, Cherie  ;)

Thank you, Cherie, for the kind words. I have a general concept of what I am hoping to one day achieve with my paintings. I don't know if I can ever 'pull it off' because I still need improvement in skill, ability and speed.

You are a lovely person, Cherie. I truly hope you and Tony are well.

Love, Dennis

Dennis, I think you are very talented and should be in galleries.  I am serious that I would love to own one of your art pieces.  I will have to write you soon and see if that would be possible.  I would pay exactly what you want.  I would just be thrilled to have something beautiful that I know my talented friend did.  Could you do a wild pinto/paint horse, or maybe a beautiful woman with a horse?  I think you are perfect already with your art!  I am slow when I do art and my writing too.  I do have a poetry book coming out later this year.  I had my first novel out in its second edition...and I am working on another novel set in the Renaissance period.  ;) xo

Cherie, I didn't think you were serious about this but... you are serious! This makes me very nervous because, Cherie, I am not a good painter. I only started painting in 2015 - not a long time ago!

You said you are slow with your art, well... I am also slow with my art! I am painfully slow because I am still learning.

Great to hear you ae working on another novel, and it's in the Renaissance period ! I like that! And you have a poetry book coming out. Excellent, Cherie! You are good with words, Cherie - something I was never good at. I always secretly admired people who can express themselves well in writing.

Take care of yourself, Cherie.

Dennis, you have NOTHING to be nervous about. You have a natural gift and that is most impressive over any trained artist. I appreciate the gift God has given you. You need not be so humble...lol. I love your style and use of value to show exactly where the light is hitting your subject.  You have precision in form and accurate anatomy.  I can't stop staring at the woman and appreciating her for her beauty you grace.  I would never rush you to do your art.  I would just love to own something by you as my friend and say to everyone who see it, "I own a Dennis Rowntree original!  Oh wow!  Can you believe it?!"  I adore art and you can believe I would appreciate so much to be honored to hang your artwork in my home. You have been such an inspiration to me to not give up on my writing, and I am finally in book stores. I am  writing every day because of you believing in me. I needed encouraging to help me get over my insecurities and go for it.  Thank you. You are the best! ;)

Dear artist brother Dennis,
Cherie has spoken of you so often I feel like I know you (to an extent) already. She speaks SO highly of you that I thought that perhaps she was exaggerating a bit.  But, after seeing this 'most captivating' piece of work I see that she was not.  I come from a family of artists, from which, I am the only writer, the rest are fine artists or graphic artists but they all express themselves through images created by their own hands in some way.  I only mention this because I want you to know how much I appreciate art in general, and I have to say your work is truly impressive......I can see the blade strokes in this one and the other touches within.....VERY difficult to do that effectively ~ Bravo!!.....an absolute pleasure kind sir.....I am SO glad that Cherie steered me here......and I am so pleased about your friendship with her.......you make her smile....and that is SUCH a good thing....she could use more of it!!......Apologies for rambling on like this......I am just so VERY pleased to know you, albeit a cyber-aquaintance......thank you so much for sharing your gifts Dennis.......I am your newest fan!!......enjoyed your paintings very much!!........LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......Tony   : )
Ps. Portraiture is such a compelling and seemingly difficult path.....wasn't it Rembrandt that kicked ass in that realm? (smiles)

Dear Tony

My apologies for the late reply, Tony. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Very kind of you to come here and appreciate my work.

I am touched and moved by your generous appreciation and friendliness. No need to apologize about 'rambling', it is acutally one of my faults and sometimes I have to learn to 'shutup'.

I deliberately chose that title in light of the stupid agenda that has been going around of using so many different gender pronouns or where schools are dressing boys into girls and girls into boys. I suspect a hidden agenda here by powerful elites. I think women should be celebrated as a woman - the female energy - and not be ashamed or consider it demeaning if man opens the door for her. The male and female energy are to be celebrated and each have equal power and grace.

The fact is I only started art and painting in 2015 hence why most of my earlier works are what I consider to be crap. The 5 years was for me a learning process of trying to get to grips of learning about value, colour, edge and drawing. This latest one, ‚ÄėI Am Woman ‚Äď The Female Principle‚Äô is one where I felt I am just beginning to get it together‚Ķ hopefully!.

And yes, portraiture is the hardest to master ‚Äď the reason why I was at the beginning focusing on it more. However, I wish to turn to do more figure works.

Again very kind of you to visit me, Tony. I truly wish you and Cherie the very best.
